Fife Educational Trust - The Maxton Bequest
Fife Educational Trust enables funds to be applied for the benefit of persons ordinarily resident in Crieff or Kirkcaldy who are above school age and engaged in study at any continuation class, secondary school, further education college or university or engaged in training or serving apprenticeship to any trade or profession. The Trust will consider applications from persons meeting the criteria and demonstrating a need for assistance.

The Time for Me! fund has been introduced to help improve the range of opportunities available for young carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities.

A major £2 million funding programme aims to train up people across the UK to help others to access the internet. The Big Lottery Fund digital champions programme aims specifically to help older people, those with disabilities, the unemployed and service users of small charities.

Step-Up, Smart Living
The Step Up program is an employability course helping 16-24 year old gain key skills for employment. There is also an opportunity for participants to gain experience during a three week work placement in key industries they are interested in. Skills Development Scotland Training
These training courses run throughout the year - click on the link to find out more:
- IPAF Training ((The International Powered Access Federation) trains people to follow health and safety laws relating to working at height with powered access platforms.
- PASMA (Mobile Towers) course This CITB scaffolding course will develop an understanding of how to safely assemble, dismantle, relocate and alter a mobile access tower.
- CSCS card / CSCS test / SQA qualification A CSCS card proves to an employer that someone has undergone training and have been deemed competent in carrying out their job role safely.

Step-On, Smart Living
Smart Living's Step On project works with 16 - 24 year old's who lack confidence and motivation. Their aim is to use local communities and create projects which will help the community while the participants gain a variety of social skills including integrating with other generations. Progress Fife is a new employment service being delivered by Capability Scotland in Fife. It helps people with a disability or health condition who reside within SIMD areas find and sustain employment. On The Doorstep is a mobile outreach service running in the Levenmouth area from 24 September to 05 November 2015. The service aims to provide a one stop shop for people in communities and can support with job search/CV's/applications etc. Click the title link to read more.

Changes to Scottish legislation were implemented on 10 September to provide significant help for many people who are anxious about disclosing old criminal convictions to employers. From now on many old convictions will not appear on PVG, enhanced or standard disclosure certificates. More changes to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 are expected in due course. Work Placement Toolkit
The Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Skills Network has developed a Toolkit to help employers interested in creating new Work Placement opportunities within their firms.

This report concludes that many parents are prevented from working due to the high cost of childcare. The report also finds that almost half of these families are actively seeking work or desire further hours from their current employer.
