SCA Team,
In early July, our recently added Mississippi Valley Surgery Center in Davenport, Iowa, hosted US Representative David Loebsack (D-IA) for a facility tour. Michael Patterson, Chief Executive Officer of Mississippi Valley Health and president-elect of the Iowa Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (IAASC), had the opportunity to educate Rep. Loebsack and his District Manager Henry Marquard about the benefits to patients of the ASC setting.
This was the first time Rep. Loebsack ever visited an ASC and he was able to learn firsthand about the high quality care provided to patients, including total joint procedures at this center. Rep. Loebsack reaffirmed his support for the ASC Quality and Access Act of 2013.
Thank you to the entire Mississippi Valley team for helping educate our legislators about the benefits of ASCs and the high quality care at a lower cost that our teams provide every day. For more information on how your facility can host a tour, contact Morgan Hanson (mhanson@ascassociation.org) at the ASC Association.
Warm regards,
Andrew

SCA Proudly Supports Mitchell's Place Junior Council and the Autism Society of Alabama
On April 6th, SCA was a proud sponsor of the 4th Annual Funky Fish Fry at Avondale Brewing in Birmingham, AL. Thanks to SCA's support-and a perfect day of weather- Mitchell's Place Junior Council and the Autism Society of Alabama were able to raise approximately $50,000 in support of treatment services and awareness for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
In addition, SCA sponsored a group of Support Services teammates to compete in a charity kickball tournament on June 29th to raise funds for Mitchell's Place. It was Team SCA's second annual appearance at the tournament, and although they were not the final champions, they did kick their way to a satisfying victory early on.
