As the latest project of the Partnership's New Reality Initiative, we have entered into a formal collaboration, the "Partnership for Community Resilience", with the Post Carbon Institute - the parent organization of www.Resilience.org and a highly respected international nonprofit organization. We are working together to improve the efficacy of community resilience-building efforts and broaden the understanding of the likely impacts of economic, energy and environmental challenges. To learn more about this work, read Post Carbon's recent publication Six Foundations for Building Community Resilience here.
To kick of this joint effort, the Post Carbon Institute and the Partnership are hosting a special, full day training at the upcoming Annual Partnership Conference in Austin TX on Thursday, September 1st. We hope you will consider joining us!
To participate, applicants must agree to attend three consecutive workshop sessions on Thursday September 1st (two in the morning, one in the afternoon). Participants will be able to attend any session of their choosing on Wednesday and Friday and all plenary sessions on Thursday will also be included in the Resilience Track. There are a limited number of slots for this special training track so apply soon if you are interested!
This unique training experience will:
- Provide a thorough introduction to what Post Carbon Institute calls the E4 crises (economy, energy, environmental, and equity), which have also been the primary emphasis of the Partnership's New Reality Initiative;
- Introduce resilience science and its application to communities;
- Explore the "Six Foundations" for building community resilience;
- Share inspiring examples and stories of community organizations, groups, and businesses building resilience in practice; and
- Lay the groundwork for possible funding which would cover the costs for conducting community resilience assessments in your community with an additional possibility of participating in a three-year demonstration pilot projects in the second stage of this collaboration..
Agencies whose staff have participated in this workshop will be eligible to participate in subsequent programmatic and collaborative funding opportunities-including training and funds to conduct Community Resilience Assessments and multi-year pilot projects aimed at building resilience and work opportunities in CAA-served communities. How to Apply:
