WIOA CONFERENCE CALL
|
The U.S. Departments of Labor and Education, and their partner, the Department of Health and Human Services, have exciting news to share regarding the next milestone in implementing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) (Pub. L. 113-128).
President Barack Obama signed WIOA into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is landmark legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve the nation's public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.
Please join the Departments (listed above) on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 2:30 pm ET (1:30 pm CT, 12:30 pm MT, 11:30 am PT) for a conference call to hear from: - Portia Wu, Assistant Secretary, Employment and Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor
- Johan Uvin, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education
- Sue Swenson, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the U.S. Department of Education
- Janet LaBreck, Commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Education
- Mark Greenberg, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
This call is intended for the key implementers and associations impacted by WIOA; future calls and technical assistance events will be promoted more widely. While nearly 2,000 phone lines have been reserved for dialing into the call, organizers anticipate many interested stakeholders joining this discussion. To accommodate as many people as possible, they encourage callers from the same location to join the call from the same room to maximize the number of lines available for all stakeholders. Dial-In Information: 1-888-889-9514 or 1-212-519-0844 Passcode: 4488230
