ROMA NEXT GENERATION
Thank you to all who submitted feedback during the extended comment period for ROMA Next Generation. NASCSP and OCS are currently reviewing the comments to make revisions to the framework and will have continued communication with the Network throughout that process. The 60-day OMB Clearance Process is planned for June 2016. The follow up 30-day OMB Clearance Process is planned for September 2016. The ROMA Next Gen Working Group will continue to meet throughout that time.

CAA Leaders' Legal Guide
A Publication by CAPLAW and Community Action Partnership
The legal framework that governs both public and nonprofit Community Action Agencies (CAAs) as recipients of federal grant funds is vast. This Guide attempts to give leaders of CAAs - the board and the executive management - an overview of some of the legal requirements that they will work with on a regular basis.
The guide covers topics such as
- the federal grant life cycle;
- the legal authority underlying federal grants;
- the federal Community Service Block Grant Act;
- federal financial management requirements;
- and tax rules specific to nonprofit CAAs operating as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.

This session will summarize the key aspects of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 that essential forced financial institutions to meet the credit needs (lend, invest and serve) of all communities to which they take deposits (especially low income communities). What is the Office of Community Services' CED Program: Use $800,000 to Create Jobs

The purpose of the Community Economic Development discretionary grant program is to promote and support projects that address economic self-sufficiency for low-income persons and distressed communities by awarding funds to community development corporations (CDCs) to create employment and business development opportunities. In this session you will be presented with several CED projects funded with OCS-CED grants. You will hear what works (and what has not worked) and how the funds could be used in many innovative ways. Assessing the Use of Debt (Loans) in Community Development: Upsides and Downsides

National Poverty Trends Session 2

Social and economic conditions have changed dramatically since the passage of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Yet 46.7 million people in the U.S. live in poverty, 15.5 million of whom are children. As the U.S. Census Bureau reported in its annual estimates on income, poverty and health insurance coverage, the poverty rate for 2014 was 14.8 percent, unchanged from 2013. This Poverty Trends webinar series will offer in-depth information on the state of poverty in America and will provide participating agencies with resources on how to analyze their community data on the poverty level and provide tools for anti-poverty advocacy on the local and state level. 2Gen 101 with Aspen Ascend
Ascend will host a monthly 2Gen 101 webinar to provide an overview of the two-generation (2Gen) framework that supports children and the adults in their lives together. The Power of Stories:
Enriching Program Research & Reporting
Historically, tribal communities have used storytelling to share language, traditions, and beliefs from one generation to another. Tribal social service programs and other human service programs can build on this rich tradition by using stories within a qualitative research framework. This report explores opportunities, considerations, and methods for using storytelling to understand and communicate information about social service programs in tribal communities. Assessing Family History, Needs, and Well-Being to Improve TANF Services to Families
May 18, 2016 1:00-2:00 p.m. EST.
Many Temporary Assistance of Needy Family (TANF) and other programs serving low-income individuals and families are seeking ways to better measure and assess how family histories and current family functioning affect service planning and delivery. This webinar will help Systems to Family Stability National Policy Academy, TANF, and other human service system stakeholders understand how assessing family functioning, history, and experience can improve outcomes for TANF and other human service system participants. Speakers will discuss how family assessment tools are administered and used by TANF, child welfare, and other stakeholder programs. It will also address how these tools can be used to measure improvements in family well-being and create opportunities to use data to improve service planning.

The State of Homelessness in America 2016 is the sixth in a series of reports charting progress in ending homelessness in the United States. It is intended to serve as a desktop reference for policymakers, journalists, and community and state leaders. This report uses the most recently available data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Census Bureau, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to present national and state trends in homelessness, populations at risk of homelessness, and the types and utilization of homeless assistance.
National Alliance to End Homelessness is the Subject Matter Expert for the Decreasing Family Homelessness Learning Community Group. This report was shared during the first web meeting aired on April 13th.
