An electronic publication of the Community Action Partnership's
Learning Communities Resource Center

Dear Community Action Colleagues:

The T/TA team is excited to launch the next round of the Learning Community - we hosted a webinar last week to announce the kick off, go over the topics for the Learning Community Groups, as well as the application process. We hope you will consider applying to join one of the groups, become a "follower" of any of the groups, and share the information with your networks.

We are also finalizing the details for the Partnership's Management and Leadership Training Conference taking place this January in New Orleans. We will have training opportunities for all levels of leaders in Community Action with a focus on more intensive workshops and plentiful networking opportunities. So be sure to get your registration and hotel accommodations booked soon.

Our work around the Organizational Standards is continuing, with focus on the areas identified as the biggest needs as well as the creation of tools of public entities. We have also begun our work around the newly received SEETAS grant which will offer technical assistance to State CSBG Lead Agencies. We will make more information available as our planning continues!

From the T/TA Team and the Partnership - we wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
NOTE HER

Sincerely,

Jarle Crocker, PhD

UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA
AND ITS IMPACT
ON FAMILIES IN POVERTY
Learning Community National Webinar
2 pm ET/ 1:00 CT/ 12:00 MT/ 11:00 am PT

Families living in poverty often encounter multiple traumas over many years. Factors associated with poverty, among others, low neighborhood safety, daily hassles, domestic violence, substance abuse and racial discrimination have been shown to increase the risk that trauma will negatively impact family functioning.

The webinar will define acute, chronic and complex (toxic), historical secondary trauma; describe impact of trauma, in the context of poverty, on the family and organizational systems; and encourage participants to build their knowledge and skills to recognize the effects of trauma on children, families and staff to design family centered, trauma-specific interventions that strengthen the family and the organization's ability to adapt, cope and heal.

This webinar is free, but registration is required. Register today!
