Announcing HR1655: The New CSBG Reauthorization Bill Introduced by Rep. Fitzpatrick with Rep. McCollum
(Representatives Fitzpatrick and McCollum were joined by: Representative Goodlatte, Representative Costa, Representative Hanna, Representative Dent and Representative Barletta.)
It was an exciting moment during the NCAF conference last week when word came that CSBG reauthorization bill was introduced in the House of Representatives. HR 1655 is a a critical document for the Community Action Network and we encourage the Network to visit www.ncaf.org for ongoing updates on the bill.

HEALTH PROFESSION OPPORTUNITY GRANTS TO SERVE TANF RECIPIENTS AND OTHER LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS
| Program Office: Office of Family Assistance Funding Opportunity Number: HHS-2015-ACF-OFA-FX-0951 Letter of Intent Due: April 29, 2015 Application Due Date: May 29, 2015 The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) is announcing that it anticipates competitively awarding cooperative agreements to support demonstration projects that are designed to provide eligible individuals with the opportunity to obtain education and training for occupations in the health care field that pay well and are expected to either experience labor shortages or be in high demand. In addition to providing education and training services, funds for this project may be used for child care, case management, and other supportive services as appropriate. HPOG programs can also include other partners that provide resources or expertise to better coordinate services and improve outcomes for program participants, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Medicaid, legal aid, and especially services funded by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), such as Head Start, child care, domestic violence prevention, and refugee resettlement programs.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service Issues Updated Guidance Concerning the Affordable Care Act and Taxes
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued updated guidance for those who have had coverage through the Health Insurance Market Place last year. This is important information needed in order to complete and file a tax return.
Key pieces of information include the actual premium rate for "second lowest cost Silver" or benchmark plan in your area. This rate is used to determine the amount of premium tax credit coverage recipients were eligible to receive. In addition to the premium rate, guidance has been released on how to and the status of corrected Marketplace tax statements. These forms are being mailed as and customers should be receiving calls informing them that their form is ready. As a result, Barbara's former position as the Project Director of the Learning Communities Resource Center is now open. Community Action Partnership seeks experienced professional to lead project to create Learning Communities focused on identifying effective practice models to address poverty. Will also provide capacity building services to the Community Action Network.
