Back to School Night

Thank you to all our families who were able to join us for Back to School Night. Our facilitators gave informative presentations about their programs. In The Village, families had the opportunity to sign up to volunteer, get fingerprinted, buy iLEAD Spirit Wear, and enjoy delicious samples for food that our learners may have for lunch. If you were unable to attend Back to School Night, feel free to set up an appointment with your child's facilitator so they can give you an overview of the school year ahead.
School Lunches Are Here!

Beginning today, iLEAD learners will have the opportunity to eat lunch purchased at school. Click here for the order form. Lunches can be ordered up to four weeks in advance. For this week, please send in your order form by this Tuesday morning.

Beginning next week, the order form and money are due on the Friday previous to the week of the lunch order. For example, lunch orders for the week of September 22 are due on FridaySeptember 19. Learners who stay in extended day on Friday will also be able to order lunch. We look forward to offering learners and families this lunch option!
ILPs Start This Friday

ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) meetings begin this Friday, September 19. They will continue over the next few weeks.
During the ILP meeting, learners, parents, and facilitators meet to develop three goals--two  academic and one social-emotional goal--for the year. Facilitators will be contacting families to set up the ILP meetings.

New iLEAD families, this is your chance to take a tour of iLEAD Lancaster if you haven't yet. We hope to have more families join our wonderful, unique community. We have tours scheduled every Monday at 9:00, followed by a question-and-answer period. Tell your friends and family.

Please call us at 661-722-4287 or e-mail us at office@ileadlancaster.org to schedule a tour. We look forward to providing more Antelope Valley children with the opportunity to be part of iLEAD Lancaster.

iLEAD Lancaster Valet Service

THE VALET LINE IS MOVING FASTER! THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!

iLEAD families: Please do not block the driveways of the businesses on K-4. We need to be good neighbors and keep their driveways clear. Thank you!

iLEAD Lancaster has a convenient valet service for our families.

In the morning:

MORNING DROP-OFF BEGINS AT 8:00. Please enter Avenue K-4 from the west and pull in to the driveway at the west end of our school. (You'll see a valet attendant in a bright vest to direct you.) Drive around the back of the school where another valet attendant will open your car door and help your children exit the car. The learners will enter the building through the back door. Please do not park in this area. If you would like to come into the school, please park in our parking lot and enter through the reception area.

In the afternoon:

VALET BEGINS AT 3:00. Please enter Avenue K-4 from the west and pull in to the driveway at the west end of our school. Do not turn left into the driveway, as it blocks traffic(You'll see a valet attendant in a bright vest to direct you.) Have your bright-orange valet card (available in the office) on the driver's side of your dash. An iLEAD staff member will read the last name written on your valet card and use a walkie-talkie to have your child come out to your car. We will be loading cars in the order in which they are parked. After picking up your child(ren), drive slowly out to the front of the school and turn right onto Avenue K-4. This will help prevent traffic congestion.

We thank you for your continued support of our valet system.
MORNING KINDERGARTEN DISMISSAL
Morning kindergarten learners should be picked up in the kindergarten classroom.

AFTERNOON KINDERGARTEN DISMISSAL

Afternoon kindergarten learners can use the valet service or be picked up in the classroom. Please speak to your child's facilitator (teacher).

iLEAD Lancaster Health and Wellness Policy

iLEAD Lancaster has adopted a Health and Wellness Policy. Click here to view the entire policy

We encourage our families to provide healthy food choices for meals and snacks. For birthday celebrations and other class celebrations, we encourage non-edible items (bubbles, stationery, pencils, etc.), or the donation of a book to the class. If families want to bring in baked items, we ask that parents choose treats listed in our Health and Wellness Policy or that are as healthy and organic as possible. Please speak to your child's facilitator prior to bringing in items for celebrations. We look forward to assisting our families in establishing and maintaining lifelong healthy eating habits.

iLEAD Sparkles

1st Graders on a Mission
Our first grade learners excitedly embarked on their first project of the year this week. Facilitators partnered with NASA scientists to present learners with an out-of-this-world mission. Learners were surprised with a video conference from NASA scientist David Alexander and a box filled with learning materials and resources to assist them in completing their mission.

2nd Graders Read for a Charitable Cause

Our second graders have happily begun reading to feed! As a part of our service project, second graders have taken the challenge to read as many books as possible to help raise money to buy a cow for a family in a third world country.  Learners have already discussed the number of things we get from cows, such as milk, cheese, cowhide, and of course more cows. This is all through the Heifer International Project: Read to Feed. For every page, minute, book, etc,. learners get a penny, nickel, or dime from their sponsors. They will synergize to meet our goal, which is to raise $500 to purchase a cow.

Read to Feed will be a yearlong project. The facilitators' goal is to integrate this project into our many units. For example, we have already started our geography unit: My Place in the World, and we have begun exploring maps, legends, and the compass rose. Learners have studied maps of these third world countries and where the cow will be sent. It is beyond exciting to see learners already bring in coins for this selfless cause.
