It's still summer but Fall will be here soon, and it's a great time to take a minute to think about end of the year planning. For HVAC contractors this means switching gears from AC to heating. Check your toolbox out and make sure your equipment is ready for fall maintenance. Are all your instrument calibration up to date?
For our government and industrial clients the end of the year often means trying to find ways to spend any left over budget. Why not invest in a new piece of equipment with those leftover dollars?

Product Feature: Airflow Transducers
|
Airflow Transducers offer versatility and affordability
Kanomax airflow tranducers are great for fixed monitoring applications in industrial processing or automation. The devices are easy to connect to a datalogger or controller as they come standard with selectable outputs: 4 to 20mA or 0 to 5V.
There are ten different probes to choose from that offer a variety of shapes and measuring ranges to fit many different applications. Each probe ships with a calibration chip that is simple to install in the transmitter making it quick and easy to swap probes in the field.
The transducer can be purchased with a digital LED read-out (shown) or without if the feature isn't required. Cables to attach the probe to the transducer are available in many lengths from 2m to 30m.

Innovative Solutions for HERS Raters
|
Kanomax has capture hoods, micromanometers & pitot tubes for all your HERS testing needs
HERS is a scale of how much energy a home consumes.A standard new home is 100 on the scale, and a zero-energy home is a 0; older homes are likely to have a rating higher than 100 unless they've been retrofitted to reduce energy consumption. The lower the rating is the more energy efficient your home is, so a lower score is more desirable. Having a lower energy home will save you money on your utility bills and depending on where you live it may also qualify you for a tax credit or rebate.
To determine the confirmed rating of your home it is necessary for a certified RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) contractor to perform some tests. The HERS rating covers many factors including insulation, window efficiency, water heating system and heating and cooling system efficiency. Each part has a test or tests to determine the efficiency of the home and the total result determines the score. For the purpose of this article we're going to focus on the heating and cooling system efficiency tests as Kanomax has several instruments to help a contractor perform these. Application Feature: IAQ Ventilation Exchange
|
The 2211 can help you maintain a healthy indoor environment for workers The IAQ monitor, model 2211, is a great tool for measuring indoor air quality parameters such as CO, CO2, temperature and humidity, but did you know it also has a function that will help you calculate the percentage of outside air being introduced to your system? With this feature it's possible to figure out the number of air exchanges occurring in a set period.
As buildings focus on becoming greener and more economical, systems are becoming more isolated and, in many cases, sealed from the outside to conserve heat and air conditioning. This process is always a balancing act for the technician though, because while you want to minimize loss of heat and A/C, it's important for health reasons to make sure enough outside air is being introduced to the system to remove CO2. If CO2 levels get too high it can result in a feeling of tiredness and, in the case of workers, a decrease in productivity.
