Portable Particle Counters are Perfect for Larger Jobs

Could a Portable Unit Save you Money Over an Economical Handheld Unit?
Let' s be honest, everyone likes to save money. In our personal lives it me ans more money in our pocket to spend on the things we like rather than on the things we need. At work it means higher profit margins and a healthier financial report which hopefully means a better future for the company and its employees. By now you're probably wondering what the heck does this have to do with counting particles. Don't worry, there is a tie-in: Many customers take a look at our particle counter line-up and compare the costs of the small handheld units to the larger portable units and then proceed to buy the 3887 which is the most economical unit we have. This is totally understandable as the 3887 costs nearly 5 times less than the 3910. However, in many cases it's also the wrong choice if you want to save money. Yes, you heard right. Buying the smaller handheld unit may cost you more than the larger portable unit depending on your application. Here's why: If you're certifying a cleanroom or other controlled environment to one of the standards (ISO is the most common but not the only one), the standard is going to dictate how many points you need to measure and for how long. The length of time to measure is based on the flow rate of the instrument. Consider that you'll be measuring over 17 times as long with a typical handheld unit as you would with a 50 liter portable and a light bulb should go off in your head. Over time that economical handheld is going to cost you more time and effort than you'll spend with the larger unit. Handheld units are still good for spot-checking and smaller, single cleanrooms that may only need to be certified once a year. If you're a contractor that certifies for a living or work in a facility with several cleanrooms than a portable unit is going to save you more money in the long run. You can read more about our particle counters, the certification procedure and take a look at the specific formula the ISO procedure uses to determine how long you need to measure in our free application guides listed below. The Next Generation of Capture Hoods From Kanomax

Model 6715 Offers Bluetooth® Communication and More
The TABmaster model 6710 has been a popular new offering as it's an economical unit with excellent accuracy. We're expanding it by adding a new version of the TABmaster, the model 6715, with many advanced features.
The first feature is the addition of a removable handheld micromanometer with Bluetooth® wireless capability. Using the base meter that goes with the TABmaster it's now possible to take airflow and pressure readings with a pitot tube (airflow range of 0.15 to 40 m/s +/- 3%; Pressure measurements from -2500 to 2500 Pa +/- 0.25%, with high resolution) or the optional velocity matrix (range of 0.15 to 15 m/s with a 3% accuracy). The matrix is a cross shaped grid, similar to the one in the base of the capture hood, that makes it possible to take face velocity readings and average velocity readings at multiple points simultaneously. The Bluetooth® feature can send data to your smartphone or any Android-based device. When used in conjunction with our wheeled, extendable stand this allows a contractor to sample air at a ceiling duct without the need to get on a ladder to read the meter.

Product Spotlight: InfiTOF Mass Spectrometer from Kanomax
|
High Performance in a Small Package
InfiTOF is a high performance, small footprint time of flight mass spectrometer. By incorporating proprietary multi-turn technology it is possible to create an instrument that is orders of magnitude smaller than the competition's mass spectrometers without sacrificing resolution. There are other multi-turn TOF-MS instruments available, but others currently on the market typically have a considerable trade-off between sensitivity and resolution. The infiTOF's patented multi-turn optics allow for more precise focusing resulting in an ion loss of only 1-2% per cycle.
This combination of advanced technology permits the infiTOF instrumentresolution potentials greater than 30,000, a large 10bit dynamic range with a high speed sampling rate of 2GS/s, yet the unit remains small enough that it can be easily transported for field use. This unprecedented capability allows for samples to be analyzed directly at the collection site reducing the chance of sample degradation or contamination that can occur when transporting collected samples to a lab for analysis. These precision types of analysis previously only available in large laboratory instrumentation are now possible in the field thanks to the cutting edge technology available in the infiTOF mass spectrometer.
InfiTOF excels at environmental clean-up response: the portability of infiTOF allows for unprecedented response time for the collection and analysis of samples. A mobile response unit equipped with an infiTOF can sample directly in the field, with a high resolution even at lower frequencies. Other applications include traditional forensic investigations, as well as food and medical analysis. Are You Making IAQ Investigation Mistakes?
|
Common misconceptions can lead to poor results
When we think of indoor air quality many people think of controlling the temperature and eliminating toxins such as carbon monoxide, and it is true that these two parameters are important factors, but they are only part of IAQ. There are some commonly overlooked parameters such as humidity, CO2 levels and exchange rates that have a strong impact on IAQ.
The model 2211 from Kanomax is equipped with all these functions and can simultaneously measure all parameters making IAQ checks easy and productive. It also includes a data-logging function so your data can be downloaded to a PC for analysis and archiving. The instrument comes with PC software that allows you to store and view your data on a graph making it easy to identify problems and check if corrective measures have been effective.
