Greetings!

In the June issue of our newsletter we're pleased to announce the new Dust Sentry, which brings accurate and affordable real-time outdoor particulate monitoring to the Kanomax line-up.  We also have a new IAQ offer, a nano-particle application note and a reminder about our ongoing limited time promotions for free probes with the purchase of a particle counter.
PAMS is Now Available for Pre-orders
World's Smallest and Lightest -- PAMS (Portable Aerosol Mobility Spectrometer) is Coming Soon

The new PAMSTM unit, developed using technology licensed from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH); the unit is smaller and lighter than conventional Scanning Electrical Mobility Particle Size Spectrometers, such as SMPSTM, weighing only 10 lbs. and measuring approximately 9x9x6 inches.

We are now accepting pre-orders for the new PAMSTM unit.  Please contact us if you would like more information or would like to place an order.

Introducing the Dust Sentry
Accurate and Affordable Real-time Outdoor Particulate Monitoring

The new Dust Sentry provides real time, continuous particle measurement of TSP, PM10, PM2.5 or PM1 with datalogging and alarm relay outputs. Numerous integrated options including SMS and/or email notifications, weather sensors, noise and mounting equipment make the Dust Sentry a flexible base system suitable for a wide range of applications.

Features include: real time particle monitoring, accurate measurements of TSP, PM10, PM2.5 or PM, datalogging to an SD card, remote access to data, gravimetric filter, easy integration of weather and wind sensors and quick installation and ease of relocation.

The Dust sentry is suitable for: roadside PM surveys,  nuisance dust detection, industrial site compliance monitoring, construction / mining sites and community exposure studies.

Order Now to Take Advantage of our Free Probe Offers While They Last

From now until the end of June you can get free probes when you order a portable particle counter or a condensation particle counter.  (See current promotions sidebar for details.)  These probes are great additions to the core products and offer users expanded functionality to tackle challenging applications.

3800 w probe Our Condensation Particle Counter Model 3800 is being offered with a free sampling probe.  The sampling probe is an attachment that allows for precise sampling at a specific point of interest.  The thin stainless steel probe tip can also be used to get accurate samples in tight spaces.

Our 6-channel Portable Particle Counters, models 3905 and 3910 are being offered with a free environmental probe attachment.  This probe measures air velocity, temperature and relative humidity with a high degree of accuracy (+/-2% air velocity).  Its a great addition to the particle counter for controlled environment applications where particle counts are just one of the parameters that need to be monitored.

Application Note: Measuring Nano-particles
Understanding and Monitoring Nano-particles

3800 CPC in use
One of the most significant technological advances in modern manufacturing has been the development of nanotechnology.  Nano-particles are being used to enhance the properties and performance of many industrial and consumer products from paint, electronics, medical devices, and drugs to toothpaste and bowling balls.

These nanoparticles may also produce unique health effects still being studied by health professionals. Because nanoparticles are such a new technology, guidelines and regulations for exposure limits are currently very limited. In the absence of specific exposure limits NIOSH suggests a safety factor of 10 be applied to existing exposure limits when dealing with nano-sized materials.

Air sampling is the primary way to monitor the release of nanoparticles into the air and to assess the effectiveness of control measures. Particle counters are particularly useful in that they provide an instantaneous readout of airborne particles of a designated size range.

Kanomax offers several particle counters that can help certified industrial hygienists or facility/safety managers meet the NIOSH recommendations for monitoring nanos.  These include the 3800 condensation particle counter as well as our handheld 3887 laser particle counter.
