Access to Professional Program: 

 

Need some professional guidance to help get your new business off the ground? The Hamilton Small Business Enterprise Centre has just what you are looking for in our Access to Professional program. Through this unique program, businesses receive legal, accounting, marketing, insurance and banking advisory services during a 45 minute one-to-one consultation. Consultations are available each month and typically take place during the second week of each month from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Here's a list of upcoming sessions:

Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF)
 
Are you a young entrepreneur, between the ages of 18 and 39?  Looking to start a business or have a business that has operated for less than one year?  Then the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) may be just what you've been looking for!  Providing pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring, CYBF is the "go to" place for youth entrepreneurship.  
 
Attend a CYBF orientation at the SBEC to learn more about this dynamic program, attracting countless leaders in entrepreneurship today!  
 
The next orientation sessions will be held July 10 from 2pm-3pm, 

July 24 from 9:30am-10:30am.  Pre-registration required.

Summer Company Program Announcement 
 

The Hamilton Small Business Enterprise Centre is pleased to announce that 20 young entrepreneurs will be starting their businesses this summer through the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment Summer Company Program.

 

Summer Company is a key component of the Ontario government's young entrepreneurs programs, which aims to encourage more young people to turn their talents into creative and innovative businesses. Summer Company provides hands-on business training and mentoring, together with awards of up to $3000.00 to help enterprising students start up and run their own summer business.

 

Eligible candidates must be between 15-29 years of age, a student returning to school in the fall of 2013, a resident of Ontario, Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant and is not to be operating an existing business or be employed full time over the course of the summer. In addition, students must be prepared to commit a minimum of 8 -12 consecutive weeks full-time to the experience.

 

Students apply to the program by completing a comprehensive business plan and participating in an interview. This year we are proud to announce and introduce the following students as the successful candidates in Hamilton to participate in the 2013 Summer Company Program.

  • Mark Taylor is the owner and operator of MWT Websites. His company designs, creates and manages websites specifically for small businesses in the Hamilton, Dundas, Grimsby, Waterdown and Burlington areas.   • Dean Hale is the owner and operator of Growing Green Hamilton. His company promotes urban agriculture in an effort to get more people growing their own healthy organic food. Feel free to contact Dean at growinggreenhamilton@gmail.com to learn more.
  • Nathan Jervis plans to provide clients with software development services. Through his company, NVC Software Solutions, clients can pay to have any software system built such as websites, mobile applications, databases, desktop programs, or any other custom built software.   • Rebecca Chung plans on running Eco-Kids Art Camp, a summer art camp for children ages five to seven years old.   • Razvan Trambitas is the owner and operator of Clean Landscaping, a business that provides basic lawn care services to student homes/properties near both the McMaster University and Mohawk College areas.
