Hamilton Technology Centre

Incubating technology ideas since 1993, the Hamilton Technology Centre is a modern 40,000 square foot, fibre optic equipped facility funded and operated by the Economic Development Division of the City of Hamilton.

Hamilton Technology Centre's mission is to have a positive impact on the City of Hamilton's economic development by maximizing the success of emerging companies. Statistics show that 87 percent of companies starting in an incubation centre survive- 54 percent more than the national average. Since opening its doors, the Hamilton Technology Centre has seen many of its graduating businesses become very successful, and have contributed new jobs and facilitated economic diversification to Hamilton and the surrounding area.

City's Financial Incentive Programs Have Expanded

City Council, at its meeting held November 28, 2012, approved the expansion of various community improvement initiatives and directed staff to prepare the necessary amendments to the Downtown and Community Renewal Community Improvement Plan and Project Area By-law.

As of Friday, March 15th, 2013 the amendment to the Downtown and Community Renewal Community Improvement Project Area By-law will expand the Downtown Hamilton Community Improvement Project Area to the east side of Victoria Avenue North, from Barton Street to Birge Street, and include 225 East Avenue North/315 Robert Street. The amendment to the Downtown and Community Renewal Community Improvement will enable the administration of additional financial incentives within the Community Downtowns, all BIAs, and the commercial corridors along Barton Street, east of the Barton Village BIA, and along Kenilworth Avenue North as identified in the Downtown and Community Renewal Community Improvement Project Area By-law.
