This year the event will be held at the exquisitely grand Liuna Station Banquet Hall in Downtown Hamilton.

There is also a networking session, full trade show and a delicious gourmet lunch (with sweet treats throughout the day!), so plan on attending on your own or with a group.
Tickets are only $75 and are going fast, so visit www.investinhamilton.ca/sitc or call 905-540-6400 for more information. |

Looking for Companies to Help Students "Crawl"
Once again, McMaster University's Student Success Centre is hosting their annual Mac Employment Crawl on May 1st and 2nd.
The purpose of this two day event is to bring students from both undergrad and graduate students on tours of businesses from across Hamilton to highlight the growing areas of employment, leading economic sectors, and build career networks.
There are two important purposes to the employment crawl. One, is to encourage the students to stay in Hamilton after graduation. The second is to give them the confidence that they can make a career in Hamilton or start that small business in an economy that is ranked as one of the best in Canada.
Currently, the Student Success Centre is looking for businesses both big and small to participate in the event - whether as a tour stop or as part of the networking event planned for the evening of May 1st.
If you are interested in participating or require more information, please let us know at the Economic Development Office or Gisela Oliviera from McMaster University's Student Success Centre at olivieg@mcmaster.ca. |

It's Happening Here!
Each day, more and more investment interest is turning to Hamilton from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Much of that information is being focused on Hamilton's Downtown core - especially from residential and commercial investors.
To share what's happening and to dispel many of the preconceived notions about Hamilton's core, the Economic Development Office recently produced a series of videos showing off the best of downtown Hamilton. This work was produced in partnership with two downtown Hamilton creative firms, Kitestring Branding Studio and Create Media.
Have a look at the Hamilton you may have thought you knew or the Hamilton that you really need to get to know! Click here to watch the videos. |

BNN Looking for The Pitch
Recently, the Business News Network (BNN) show The Pitch reached out to Hamilton Economic Development to identify companies that may be interested in being on the show. The Pitch is a weekly show that links up Canadian entrepreneurs with the risk capitalists who are sitting on the money that brings ideas to life. During the program, start-up entrepreneurs or companies seeking to take their business to the next level will sell their business idea -- and the amount of cash needed -- to a panel of tough financiers and experts. The panelists will either give the pitch the green light or send the entrepreneurs back to the drawing board, providing viewers with the opportunity to see how entrepreneurs perform in a high-pressure atmosphere.
If you're looking to build the company at this time, this might be a good chance for national exposure. Those interested can contact Michael Marini (michael.marini@hamilton.ca or 905-546-2424 ext. 1781) for more information. |
