The CPUC judge, Amy Yip-Kikugawa is holding a public hearing on the Smart Meter opt out program this Thursday: December 20 at 2:00 p.m. Steel Lane Community Center -- Dohn Room 415 Steele Lane Santa Rosa
This hearing will be the fifth and last public hearing that has been held by the CPUC in California. Hearings were already held in Bakersfield, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, and one is scheduled for San Clemente tonight. This is an opportunity to speak directly to the judge who will preside over the meeting. You will have 2 or 3 minutes to speak, depending on numbers of people who sign up, about how you feel about Smart Meters, and why you are refusing them.
Currently customers who want to retain or restore the analog meters are charged "interim fees" to not have Smart Meters. PG&E proposes customers continue to pay the "interim" fees, and socialize the rest of their supposed costs, whereas SCE, SDG&E and The Utility Reform Network (TURN) propose individual customers pay 100% of costs. EMF Safety Network is advocating for a no cost right to retain or restore the analog meters and shareholders pay any and all utility costs. Hearings are free and open to the pubic. - They are scheduled to be 2 hours long.
- Encourage politicians to attend. They will be allowed to speak first.
- There will be a court reporter and the public comments will become a part of the record in the Smart Meter consolidated proceeding (A.11-03-014)
