EMF Safety Network Files Lawsuit Against the CPUC!

On July 11, 2012 The EMF Safety Network filed a Petition for Writ of Review in the California First District Court of Appeal against the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for failing to address serious health and safety issues related to radio frequency radiation (RF) utility Smart Meters. 

The petition alleges that the CPUC abused its discretion, failed to proceed in the manner required by California law and that the findings in the decision are not supported by substantial evidence. 

No evidentiary hearings were held, no opportunity for the submission of prepared testimony or even the issuance of a traditional Commission scoping memorandum. 

The CPUC dismissed the EMF Network's application on the basis of a single, self-interested declaration submitted by one PG&E employee. 

In Maine, the Supreme Judicial Court sided with utility customers and remanded the the Maine Public Utilities Commission investigate Smart Meter health and safety issues.

CPUC Smart Meter Opt-Out Proceeding

In the CPUC Smart Meter Opt-Out proceeding, which will be concluded sometime in Spring 2013, most parties argued that charging an opt-out fee to people who have medical conditions is discrimination. 

The utilities think the fees are lawful.

Occidental Slated for Fake Tree 12 Panel 4G Cell Tower 

Endangered Tree Vole

On Tuesday, August 7, Sonoma County Supervisors approved a 12 panel 4G cell tower in Occidental despite community opposition. 

The tower, disguised as a fake tree, will be located close to downtown Occidental and in a critical habitat for the tree vole, a protected species.

Lawsuit Against Verizon 4G Cell Tower in Sebastopol

EMF Safety Network's attorney filed a brief in Sonoma County Court against the installation of a Verizon 4G cell tower slated to be located in the heart of downtown Sebastopol. There is a pending court date for early September.
