Dissecting Federal Budget 2015
Check out the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's Budget Analysis.  Highlights from the budget include small business tax rates being cut from 11% to 9% by 2019.  It will start with a 0.5% cut starting January 1, 2016.

The small business tax deduction applies to Canadian-controlled private corporations (CCPCs) on the first $500,000 of earned income for the business.  The deduction is reduced when taxable capital reaches $10 million and is eliminated when taxable capital reaches $15 million.

Here's what happened at this month's YPG!
Pigs, Crickets, and Bears - Oh my!

The April 15th

YPG was an extra special night as the six finalists for the annual Bears' Lair were announced. The Bears' Lair is Peterborough's version of Dragons' Den, with a focus on local businesses and entrepreneurs. Over 60 people made it out to the YPG, held at The Market Hall, for the announcement and to network, of course.

The room was full of excitement, anticipation, and delightful discourse as companies talked about their products and business. The YPG also offered a great opportunity for these companies to network with other professionals and meet potential future clients! The Bears' Lair grand finale was on April 21st at the Venue. The winners can be seen on the Bears' Lair website. The Chamber would like to congratulate the winners and all of the finalists, and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours! The list of finalists can be seen in The Peterborough Examiner.

The next YPG will be held on May 21st with another special treat - a CEO Tour of the Smithworks Brewing Company. Be sure to come out - you never know what amazing connection you might make and there will be award winning beer!
