New Home Stay Program for International Students.
|
The Elgin Community College Homestay Program placed its first two students with a host family this fall. The program is designed to give international full-time students on an F-1 visa the opportunity to live with an American family for a predetermined amount of time during their study at ECC.
The student is immersed in American culture by participating in day-to-day activities, encouraged to improve his/her language through daily interactions, and has a home away from home. The host is able to learn about a new culture and play an active role in furthering the educational opportunities for our world's youth. The student and host family often end up creating lifelong friendships.
The program is currently recruiting host families who have an interest in wanting to learn from an international student, share their traditions and culture, and contribute to global cultural awareness. For more information please visit our website at elgin.edu/homestay or contact Natalie Escobar at 847-214-7722.

Call to Action!
"Stand Up and Be Counted!"
We are Searching for our alumni.
|
Alumni Relations has launched a new project to reconnect with our alumni who work for, lead or own businesses in District 509 called "Stand Up and Be Counted."
We are asking local businesses to participate by putting information and sign-up forms in the employee lunch/break room(s) to give them the opportunity to "Stand Up and Be Counted" for their employer.
Participating businesses can benefit from this program in many ways as we celebrate those businesses who hire Elgin Community College educated employees.
If you know an alum who works, leads or owns a business in our district that could help us connect with the person who would assist us in facilitating this program, please contact Alumni Relations.
Thank you for your support!
