Is Booking Hotels Direct Really in Your Best Interest?

Over the last couple months, major hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and IHG have launched independent marketing campaigns to woo travelers into booking hotels direct - but is booking direct really in the best interest of the business traveler? Obviously, as a Travel Management Company who books corporate hotel reservations, Covington Travel has a stake in this new development so we have done our due diligence to find out what these new initiatives really mean to the traveler.

The Bad News: Long TSA lines are not going away soon
The Good News: There's an app for that

TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger said that the agency would start posting nearly up-to-the-minute wait times at the nation's biggest airports on its My TSA app by the middle of June. One caveat you should be aware of: currently, the app's wait times are reported by travelers, making its accuracy sometimes less than reliable.  

The app also has a "Can I bring?" tab; real-time airport status by map, list or search; the TSA Traveler's Guide with tips on getting through security quickly; Current Airport Weather; and TSA Pre✓� information. 

Travel Tip: TSA Precheck lanes process 300-325 travelers per hour - twice that of regular lanes. Apply for TSA Precheck!
