Lenten Reflections
Diocese of Newark

Thank you for joining us in prayer and reflection during this season of Lent. We will travel through daily scripture, reflection and prayer.  Additional people have been joining us each day. Please feel free to forward these reflections to others. We invite you to explore the other resources for the season found at the bottom of the page as we continue the journey together.

Scripture

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord,

all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness:

come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord he is God:

it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,

and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;

and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 100 (King James Version)

Reflection

Since I was a child, I've loved this Psalm.  We said it in school and in church.  It's reminds me of the new song by Pharrell Williams, "Happy". Every time I hear this song I must get up and clap and dance.  When I'm in the car, I blast the radio.  It really increases my energy and that's how I feel about this Psalm.  Look at it with me, it's Happy and Alive:

"Make a Joyful Noise

Serve with Gladness

Come into His Presence with Singing

We are His People

We are His Sheep

Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving

Enter His Courts with Praise

Be Thankful

Bless His Name

The Lord is Good

His Mercy is Everlasting

His Truth Last for all Generations."

Prayer

O God,  It's said that you inhabit our praise, thank you for this Psalm of Praise. I adore you.  Amen.
