Greetings!
Thank you for joining us in prayer and reflection during the season of Lent. We will travel through daily scripture, reflection and prayer. We invite you to explore the other resources of the season found and the bottom of the page as we begin the journey together.

The Passover...was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money-changers seated at their tables. Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, 'Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a market-place!' His disciples remembered that it was written, 'Zeal for your house will consume me.' The Jewish authorities then said to him, 'What sign can you show us for doing this?' Jesus answered them, 'Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.' They then said, 'This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?' But he was speaking of the temple of his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

In this season of Lent, we too need to consider what needs cleaning out in our lives. Where have we built up clutter, noise, and misguided expectations? Do our material pursuits get more of our time and attention than our spiritual ones? Has our faith become something one does on a Sunday (provided there aren't other things that call to us more), and not something that we live? Has our church become a marketplace of stagnation - a place that is dying, rather than giving new life?
Jesus is setting an example for us all to take a look around us and in our hearts. In this Lenten time of reflection let us ask ourselves - Do we need to clean house?

Prayer
Holy God, Mother of all creation,
help us to renew our faith,
to turn to you,
to cleanse our hearts
of all that separates us
from the fullness of relationship with you.
Guide us in the way of your beloved child, our Savior Jesus Christ, and strengthen us with your Holy Spirit. Amen.
