Actress Amber Tamblyn Visits W&J
Discussion Group - Today at 3:00 pm in the Media Room
Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow Amber Tamblyn will host a small discussion group with students to talk about poetics, dramatic writing, and her work in film/TV. A short Q&A will follow.
Public Lecture - Tuesday at 7:30 pm in Dieter-Porter 100
Tamblyn will also give a public lecture titled "Not-Your-Typical-Poetry-Reading: Poems and Musings on the Creative Life" to the W&J Community. Tamblyn is a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow. Following Amber's lecture, there will be a meet and greet and book signing for her new book Dark Sparkler. Copies will be available for purchase at the signing. Grab a book (and of course a selfie)!
Amber Tamblyn is an award-winning actress and writer known for her roles in HOUSE, 127 Hours, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Joan of Arcadia. Her written work has been published in New York Quarterly, San Francisco Chronicle, Poets & Writers, Pank Magazine, Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Interview. Currently, she writes for The Poetry Foundation, is a poetry reviewer for Bust Magazine, and is the co-founder of the nonprofit Write Now Poetry Society. Amber has published several collections of poetry, art, and photography. Her most recent collection, Dark Sparkler, is a collection of persona poems about child star actresses who grew up into virtual unknowns and died young.

Japan Relief Fundraiser
Today through Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Commons
Your help is needed! Stop by the Commons at dinner to learn more about our Japan Relief Fundraiser and donate for people who are suffering from the Kumamoto Earthquakes in Japan. A Magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit Kumamoto on April 16. Over 850 earthquakes hit Japan in the past two weeks. More than 180,000 victims suffering from this disaster. We need your help! Let's stand up for people there as Presidents! Please come to the Commons at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and get more information!

General Housing Selection will take place in the Rossin Campus Center Ballroom from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, today and tomorrow. Student Groups with Selection Numbers between 1 and 54 will select their housing on today. Your arrival time is specific to your Selection Number and is listed below:

Cheerleading Tryouts
Registration is Today at 5:30 pm
Tryouts for the 2016-2017 cheerleading squad will be held on Wednesday. Registration is at 5:30 pm today with practice beginning at 6:00 pm in the Main Gym at Henry Memorial. All current students and incoming freshman are eligible to participate. The squad welcomes men and women with cheerleader experience to join our squad!

Interested in Taking Summer Courses at W&J?
Sign-up Deadline is May 1
Are you interested in taking courses this summer at W&J? If so, please note that you should sign up for courses BEFORE May 1. Courses that do not have any enrollment as of May 1 will have to be cancelled, and courses must have a minimum enrollment of three students by May 15 in order to run. You can register for summer courses via WebAdvisor.

Summer Housing
For any student that is planning on attending classes at W&J College over the summer of 2016 or for anyone else that needs housing on campus from June 5th - August 6th, please sign up by completing the
All students will be housed in one of our President's Row buildings. On the form, you will also be able to sign up for the meal plan that is offered during the summer months.
We have several housing options for you to choose from: Double Room without A/C: $145 per week Double Room with A/C: $155 per week Single Room without A/C: $180 per week Single Room with A/C: $200 per week

Outdoors Club Leadership Opportunities
Serve on the Executive Board for 2016-17
The Outdoors Club is looking for a group of students to serve on the E-board for the 2016-17 academic year. Officer positions include: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Elections will be held Sunday, May 1 at 6:00 pm in Yost Auditorium.
If you want to run for an officer's position, please send your name and position you will be running for by Wednesday, April 27 to neugebauerm@washjeff.edu to appear on the ballot.
*We are offering something different this year*- if you propose a position we do not have at this time, it will be voted on to add it to the board (i.e. Digital Media Producer). This will require the four current positions to be filled first, and then a majority vote.

DUBJAM's Kid Ink Show Tickets Now Available
Get Yours Today at Student Life!
Tickets can be picked up and purchased in the Student Life Office (third floor, Rossin Campus Center) for the Kid Ink show!
Students get 1 free ticket and can purchase 1 extra ticket for a guest for $20 (cash or check only). Student ID must be presented when picking up tickets. Attendees must be over 18. Guests must be accompanied by their designated W&J student to be admitted into the event. Ticket sales go open to the public on May 2. The concert is part of DUBJAM, a new event which combines SAB's Street Fair and SGA's Spring Concert into a whole day event!

Pre-Orientation Leader Applications Available!
Are you interested in being a student facilitator and peer leader for our pre-orientation programs? Apply here today! We are taking applications for both the Summer Transition for Entering Presidents (S.T.E.P.) Pre-Orientation Program and the Outdoor Experience Program. All leaders will be required to return to campus by Friday, August 26 for leader training (August 26 & 27). Students are required to participate in the program in its entirety from August 28-August 31, and will have some additional requirements during orientation, August 31 - September 3. Next Steps High School Mentoring Program

Were you unsure about how to begin your college search? Apply for financial aid? Unsure if college was even for you? So many of our young community members have these same concerns! YOU can be the work to help them answer those questions. W&J is selecting several of our students to serve as mentors in W&J Next Steps: A College Access Program. Mentors will be partnered with one or two local high school students who are beginning their college search process, and will help them navigate the process through monthly meetings, workshops, and follow up. Mentors will commit to the program for the full year, and will receive a stipend for their participation. Apply here! Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 5. Questions? Summer is right around the corner and we are preparing for the 2016 Summer Student Employment Program at Washington & Jefferson College. The program commences on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 and spans through Sunday, September 4, 2016. You must be a returning W&J student to be eligible.

Faculty Colloquium: Tom Lombardi

Tom Lombardi will present "Macro-analysis Across the Curriculum". Modern computing power and advanced software offer our students opportunities to engage with large-scale, complex problems. Macro-analysis is a broad approach to grappling with such problems. Tom's talk outlines the state of macro-analysis in several disciplines, and reflects on the challenges and opportunities of preparing students to address such problems in class and the world.

Secular Student Alliance FSM Spaghetti Dinner

Come hear all about study abroad from a W&J student's perspective. There will be FREE FOOD and we will do a drawing for PRIZES! After students share stories about their off-campus study experience you will have the chance to mingle and ask questions. This is also a great opportunity to learn about scholarships and grants for study abroad!

W&J Senior Show II
Gallery Opening & Artist Talks this Friday Beginning at 6:00 pm in Olin
On behalf of the Olin Art Gallery and the Art Department all are invited to attend the opening reception and artist talks for the W&J Senior Show II. The event takes place on Friday, April 29 from 6:00-7:30 pm. in the Olin Art Gallery with talks beginning at 6:15 pm. This exhibition is the second of two senior capstone events featuring the work of half the graduating art majors for 2016. This exhibition includes Stephanie Chadwick, Natalie Paul, and Julia Price.

Travis Clark's Bass Capstone Presentation

Kappa's Catch the Cure Softball Tournament
Sunday at 7:30pm in the
Rossin Ballroom
Kappa Kappa Gamma's 9th annual Catch the Cure softball tournament will be this Sunday at Cameron Stadium from 9:00 am-4:00 pm! All proceeds benefit Susan G Koman and the fight against breast cancer. There is a three dollar entrance fee for non team members which includes a food voucher. There will be a raffle basket at the event that has over $250 worth of gift cards for local restaurants! We hope to see you all there in the supports against breast cancer!

G.I.V.E. Club's Mr. President Event
Monday, May 2 at 7:00 pm in the Ballroom
G.I.V.E club's 2016 Mr. President competition will be held on Monday, May 2 in the Rossin Ballroom! This year Mr. President is raising money for a breast cancer nonprofit, The Glock Foundation. All proceeds from this event will be donated to this foundation.
The contestants will be scored in: formal-wear event, a talent portion, and a brief interview for each participant.
Donation Suggestion for Attending: $2 , you will be put into a raffle for a visa gift card when you make a donation of at the door or throughout the week.
There will be food (pizza) and drinks!
