General Housing Selection will take place in the Rossin Campus Center Ballroom from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, April 25 and Tuesday April 26. Student Groups with Selection Numbers between 1 and 54 will select their housing on Monday, April 25. Your arrival time is specific to your Selection Number and is listed below:

Senior Week Ticket Sales!

Today
Senior week tickets will be sold today from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the CommonsTickets are $40 (cash or check only) and include the following events: 
  • President's Pub Senior Night (5/17 @ 8:00 pm)
  • Pittsburgh Pirates Game (5/18 departing @ 5:30pm)
  • Music, Milkshakes, & Moe's (5/19 @ 8:00 pm).
  • There is also an optional on campus event for an additional $20, Painting with a Twist (5/19, 2:00 - 4:00 pm).
The last day to purchase tickets will be May 10.  For more event information, please check out the events tab on the Senior Week Spire page!

Mr. President Competition Postponed

G.I.V.E club's 2016 Mr. President competition which was originally slated to be held tonight, will now be held on May 2 due to time conflicts with Greek Week events.

Interested in Taking Summer Courses at W&J?
 
Sign-up Deadline is May 1
Are you interested in taking courses this summer at W&J?  If so, please note that you should sign up for courses BEFORE May 1.  Courses that do not have any enrollment as of May 1 will have to be cancelled, and courses must have a minimum enrollment of three students by May 15 in order to run.  You can register for summer courses via WebAdvisor.

Summer Housing
 
For any student that is planning on attending classes at Washington & Jefferson College over the summer of 2016 or for anyone else that needs housing on campus from June 5th - August 6th, please sign up by completing the 2016 Summer Housing Request Form.  All students will be housed in one of our President's Row buildings.  On the form, you will also be able to sign up for the meal plan that is offered during the summer months.

We have several housing options for you to choose from:
Double Room without A/C: $145 per week
Double Room with A/C: $155 per week
Single Room without A/C: $180 per week
Single Room with A/C: $200 per week

Tickets can be picked up and purchased in the Student Life Office (third floor, Rossin Campus Center) for the Kid Ink show!

Students get 1 free ticket and can purchase 1 extra ticket for a guest for $20 (cash or check only). Student ID must be presented when picking up tickets. Adult Show (Attendees must be over 18). Guests must be accompanied by their designated W&J student to be admitted into the event.

Ticket sales go open to the public on May 2.

The concert is part of DUBJAM, a new event which combines SAB's Street Fair and SGA's Spring Concert into a whole day event! 

Pre-Orientation Leader Applications Available!
 
Are you interested in being a student facilitator and peer leader for our pre-orientation programs? Apply here today! We are taking applications for both the Summer Transition for Entering Presidents (S.T.E.P.) Pre-Orientation Program and the Outdoor Experience Program. All leaders will be required to return to campus by Friday, August 26 for leader training (August 26 & 27). Students are required to participate in the program in its entirety from August 28-August 31, and will have some additional requirements during orientation, August 31 - September 3. Next Steps High School Mentoring Program

Were you unsure about how to begin your college search? Apply for financial aid? Unsure if college was even for you? So many of our young community members have these same concerns! YOU can be the work to help them answer those questions. W&J is selecting several of our students to serve as mentors in W&J Next Steps: A College Access Program. Mentors will be partnered with one or two local high school students who are beginning their college search process, and will help them navigate the process through monthly meetings, workshops, and follow up. Mentors will commit to the program for the full year, and will receive a stipend for their participation. Apply here! Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 5. Questions? Seder Dinner at the W&J Newman Club

The W&J Catholic Newman Club would like to welcome all students of the Jewish faith to join fellow students of the Catholic and other Christian faith traditions for a Seder meal in celebration of the holiday of Passover on Monday, April 25 beginning at 6:30 pm at the Newman Center located on the corner of College and Beau streets. The Seder will be led by Rabbi David Novitsky, professor of religious studies at W&J and rabbi of Beth Israel Synagogue in Washington, PA. Rabbi Novitsky will additionally be leading discussion on current ethical topics encountered within our society and lives as people of faith. Open discussion and inter-faith dialogue is encouraged.

Spring Choral Concert
 
Friday at 8:00 pm at Church of the Covenant
The annual performance of a choral masterwork in the beauty of the Church of the Covenant sanctuary has become a highly anticipated event at W&J. Performances in recent years have included the requiem masses of Mozart, Fauré, and Duruflé, Haydn's Theresienmesse, and Handel's Coronation Anthems.

This year, for the first time in the history of W&J, the Choir and Camerata Singers will present Bernstein's incomparable Chichester Psalms. This moving and powerful work will stay with you long after the last notes die away. Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of Bernstein's finest works.

Wind Ensemble Concert
 
Sunday at 3:00 pm in the Olin Fine Arts Center Theater
The Wind Ensemble will present a free concert of unique and extremely varied repertoire from around the world. Featuring pieces from Korea, Africa, Scotland, Russia, the Middle East, Austria, and America. Highlights will include a special performance by Professor Emeritus Dr. Susan Woodard on piano. She will be playing an extremely beautiful composition by Mozart that was featured in the 1967 film "Elvira Madigan."  Another highlight will be the performance of the once very controversial piece "Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky. This piece almost caused a riot in Paris for its premier in 1914. Come to the concert to hear this exciting piece live! Hope to see you there.

Spoken Word Poet Jay Oriola

April is National Poetry month! As such the Black Student Union and the office of Diversity Programing and Multicultural Affairs is bringing Jay Oriola, a spoken word poet from Pittsburgh, PA to campus. Tri County Patriots 5K Run, Walk, Roll Event

This Saturday!
The Tri-County Patriots for Independent Living will be holding their annual 5K Run, Walk, Roll event on Saturday at Mingo Creek Park from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Registration for the event begins at 7:30 am on the day of the race, or can be completed prior to the day of the race. The cost of registration is $20, and includes a t-shirt, course map, race bib, and other goodies.  If you are interested in volunteering or participating in this event, please contact Josh Makepeace (jmakepeace@washjeff.edu) to obtain a registration form. 

JROTC 5K at Trinity High School

This Saturday!
JROTC at Trinity High School is holding a 5K on Saturday at 10:00 am. The event will be on the High School track (which is located behind the high school). You can register for the event here.

Event Details
The 100th Anniversary Fun Run will provide units the opportunity to participate in a "Worldwide" event to commemorate 100 years of JROTC service to America. Also, units will be able to raise funds or to contribute toward their service learning/community service project.

Students across the globe will run/walk/march at their school's track, nearby running course, or even a neighborhood park. The overall goal is to have a simultaneous start-time in order to allow the units to connect via social media and to be able to view locations worldwide in order to truly appreciate the scope and magnitude of this event.

The cost for JROTC/ROTC cadets is FREE! All other participants including family, friends, and community members will be charged $24 and will receive a 100th Anniversary commemorative t-shirt (cadets have the opportunity at registration to receive/purchase this commemorative t-shirt for $15 if they desire).  Units hosting Fun Runs will receive $5.00 for their local programs for each Non Cadet that registers for their event.

DNA Day

Monday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the Campus Center Circle
Phi Sigma, the biology honors society, will be hosting DNA Day on Monday from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the Rossin Campus Center Circle (G&T's if it rains). The event is open and free to all students and faculty. Members of the community can come learn about DNA and make necklaces from their own DNA (limited supply). Actress Amber Tamblyn Visits W&J

Discussion Group - Monday at 3:00 pm in the Media Room 
Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow Amber Tamblyn will host a small discussion group with students to talk about poetics, dramatic writing, and her work in film/TV. A short Q&A will follow.

Cheerleading Tryout Registration

Monday at 5:30 pm
Tryouts for the 2016-2017 cheerleading squad will be held on April 27. Registration is on Monday at 5:30 pm with practice beginning at 6:00 pm in the Main Gym at Henry Memorial.  All current students and incoming freshman are eligible to participate. The squad welcomes men and women with cheerleader experience to join our squad!
