Attention all Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors
We are now accepting applications for the Student Healthcare Coaches Internship, which will count as a four credit course during the Fall of 2016.
As a participant in this program, students will attend three weeks of training at Jefferson Hospital where they will be taught by, and allowed to shadow, practicing healthcare professionals. Following training, students will be assigned a patient who has recently been discharged from the hospital and will conduct weekly visits to the home of this patient. By helping their patients with medications, treatment plans, disease management, and other aspects of daily living, the Student Healthcare Coach will help to keep these patients out of the hospital, thereby increasing their quality of life.
This program is open to any student who will be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in the Fall of 2016. While this opportunity provides an excellent method to gain patient contact, shadowing, and community service experience for pre-health students, it is open to students of any major.
Any interested Students should contact Joshua Makepeace (jmakepeace@washjeff.edu, office 002A in the Ski Lodge) with any questions or to acquire an application form.
