Attention First Year Men

Apply for the Beta Theta Pi Men of Principle Scholarship
The Men of Principle Scholarship is offered by Beta Theta Pi annually to undergraduate men dedicated to involvement and scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to two individuals in the sum of $250.00 each. The selection process will entail a single interview with the fraternity's President, Recruitment Chair and others to be determined.

This interview will consist of a series of questions geared toward giving the interviewing brothers a better look at your credentials, your commitment to academics and your participation within the Washington and Jefferson College community. There is no need to prepare responses for this interview. We are only searching for men that we feel posses the qualities most closely associated with the ideals of Beta Theta Pi.

To apply for the scholarship please send me an email stating your interest in setting up a time to be interviewed on either of the following days: November 17th, November 18th, and November 19th after 6:30 PM. If in the case any of these days happen to not work within your schedules please send me an email letting me know, and we can arrange another time to meet for your interview. The interview will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes and your dress attire is to be business casual (shirt and tie).

For more information regarding Beta Theta Pi and the Men of Principle Scholarship we encourage each of you to visit our website, www.betathetapi.org  We hope you to will apply for this great opportunity and look forward to learning more about each of you in the near future.

Poverty Simulation

Register by Friday, November 13!
In Washington County, 10% of all residents live in poverty, and 13% of children aged 18 and under live in poverty. Could you survive a month in poverty? Join the Office of Community Engagement and Community Action Southwest on Tuesday, November 17 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Rossin Ballroom for the annual W&J Poverty Simulation, when the Ballroom will be turned into a small town. Each participate will get to take on the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. This activity, and the following discussion, is great opportunity to get a better understanding of the effects of poverty on our community, especially for those students who want to serve as volunteers with low-income community members. Register here today!

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week 2015

To kick off W&J's support of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW), we are calling on all students to help us raise awareness for hunger and homelessness issues in our community by wearing orange, the official color of HHAW on Monday, November 16. You can also stop by the George & Tom's tables throughout the day on Monday to learn more about some of our community partners who are working towards ending hunger and homelessness in the community, and pick up an orange ribbon to show your support throughout the entire week. Finally, we have donation stations in Rossin and U. Grant Miller Library with information on HHAW. Stop by the stations for more information on what we are collecting. For more information on HHAW, go here.
