Host a Club 126 Event!
Are you a Student Organization looking to hold a campus wide event?  Host a Club 126 night in the Hub Alley!

What is a Club 126 Event?
Club 126 events are hosted by student organizations in the Hub Alley on select Fridays and Saturdays throughout the semester. Club 126 events must provide a free, inclusive, and engaging environment for all W&J students and must not have the same or similar theme to another event taking place that semester. 

Sponsored events must fulfill the following criteria:
  • Occur on a Friday or Saturday night during the fall or spring semesters.
  • Event falls within the 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. timeframe.
  • Event is open to all W&J students.
  • Event's primary purpose cannot be a fundraiser for your organization.
  • Admission cannot be charged for participation in event.
  • Date is secured through the Student Activities, Involvement, & Leadership Office by submitting a Club 126 Application on Spire and having it approved (found under the forms tab).

Magellan Part 1 Applications Due

Part 1 Application Deadline is this Wednesday!
Considering a Summer 2016 Magellan Project? Complete a Part 1 Application today! It only takes 5 minutes, is a non-binding statement of intent, and is required to pursue a Part 2 Application. The Part 1 Application is available on the  Magellan Spire page under "News" as well as the Magellan page on the college website. The deadline is Wednesday at 11:59 pm.

Flu Vaccines Available

Wednesday & Thursday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Flu season is upon us!  Please come to Health and Counseling Services on October 21st and 22nd from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to receive your annual flu vaccine.  They will be provided for students, faculty and staff.  The fee this year is $20, cash or check only. 


Japan - Intersession 2017

Registration for Intersession, 2016 and Spring Term is just around the corner. Any students who are interested in the Japan 2017 Intersession trip should talk with their parents over fall break about how to use the Intersession experience and begin making plans now. If you are interested in taking the 2017 Intersession trip to Japan, Please see Dr. Miller (Old Main, 204 F) or e-mail him at smiller@washjeff.edu as soon as possible.

If you haven't found a campus job yet and were awarded Federal Work Study, make sure you have created your College Central Account and visited their site. All campus positions are located there.  If you are FWS eligible, you would have received paperwork in your campus mailbox. You can also visit www.washjeff.edu/student-employment for instructions on setting up your CCN account, completing payroll paperwork, and accessing your timesheet. Faculty/Staff Safe Zone Training Rescheduled
The October 21st Faculty/Staff Safe Zone Training has been rescheduled to better accommodate faculty/staff schedules.  The new date options for the trainings are:
Tuesday, October 27th, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Rossin Student Government Chambers (Room 303)
Wednesday, October 28th, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Rossin Student Government Chambers (Room 303)
Due to space limitations, there are only 20 seats available for each training date available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Please RSVP for the training date that best fits your schedule through the Diversity Programs & Multicultural Affairs Spire page.  The training will cover key terminology, hot topics that currently impact the LGBTQIA+ students, and resources on how we can help to make our campus community a safer space.  Please email diversity@washjeff.edu if you have questions.

Point of View Discussion: Cultural Appropriation

From culturally insensitive Halloween costumes, to distasteful college themed parties and athletic team mascot controversies, issues of cultural appropriation are prevalent in today's society.  Come share your thoughts and perspectives at this month's Point of View Discussion.  Free pizza and wings will be provided!  Co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity Programs & Multicultural Affairs and Diversity Programming Board.    
Semester Abroad Showcase

Mark your calendars! The Office of Study Abroad is excited to announce the fall 2015 Semester Abroad Showcase dates: on October 29 and November 19 at 5:30 pm in the Media Room, come hear all about study abroad from a W&J student's perspective. There will be free snacks, and we will do a drawing for prizes! After students share stories about their off-campus study experience you will have the chance to mingle and ask questions.  This is also a great opportunity to learn about scholarships and grants for study abroad!

Team Handball

Sign-ups for Intramural Team Handball close Friday, October 30th at 12:00pm.  Please submit entries to imsports@washjeff.edu.  Teams must have a minimum 5 players (with at least 2 females).  Games are played in the Henry Memorial Back Gym from November 2-19.

Le Tour de Dubjay

Le Tour de DubJay is a special, individual event designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles on campus through cycling.  This competition runs from November 2-20 and entries are due by October 30th (registrations are accepted throughout the duration of this particular event).  For more information on this event please go to www.washjeff.edu/intramural-leagues-tournaments.

Volunteer Opportunities
Sustainability Committee Work Study Available!

The W&J Sustainability Committee is hiring a new Media Technician. This work-study student will design posters for the Sustainability Committee using texts that will be supplied, hang the posters and move them from location to location to maximize their impact, maintain the Committee's web presence, and carry out other tasks. Experience designing posters and maintaining web pages is preferred but we will consider fast learners who are eager to develop new skills. Required traits include creativity, initiative, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to hang posters. The job is expected to require five to ten hours a week.
