The Gaden Shartse Tibetan Monastery will be making a sand mandala and offering lectures in Olin and across campus in select classrooms, culminating in an Arts Series performance on October 1st. I have attached their itinerary and some pictures. You can do what you will with it.

W&J Energy Lecture Series Begin on Thursday
Thursday, September 10 at 6:30 pm
This year's Energy Lecture Series presents The Grid Academy, a four session program that examines the changes we need to make to the electrical grid system. The program has been created and will be presented by the National Academies' Science and Engineering Ambassadors Program. The first lecture will be held on Thursday, September 10, at 6:30 in Yost Auditorium. Experts John Swanson and Gregory Reed (of the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering) will speak. Caring Counts
A Suicide Risk Reduction and Gatekeeper Skills Workshop
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Who: Any member of the W&J community is welcome; Students, Faculty, Staff
What: A workshop on suicide risk reduction and gatekeeper skills.
We will learn about:
- Factors which increase the risk of suicide
- How to recognize a community member at risk
- Ways to approach and talk to a person we are concerned about
- How to make appropriate referrals
- Things we can do to reduce the risk factors
When: There are four workshop sessions to choose from to suit your schedule!

Apply for a Fullbright!
Information Session on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 pm
What are you going to do after graduation? How about getting paid to travel to another country, teach English or work on a research project, and have a year-long adventure, all while strengthening your resume and building your character?
Apply for a Fulbright! In order to do so, you must be a U.S. citizen, finish up your undergraduate degree before you go, and be in good health. In addition, some countries require proficiency in the local language.
An information session will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m., in Yost Auditorium. The on-campus deadline is September 30, and all questions should be directed to Dr. Vdovichenko (svdovichenko@washjeff.edu). You can't go unless you get accepted, and you can't get accepted unless you apply!

A Child's Story
Opening Reception & Artist Talk on Friday, September 18
On behalf of the Olin Art Gallery and the Art Department, it is with extreme pleasure that we invite the entire W&J community to attend the opening reception and artist talk for the exhibition, A Child's Story by Patricia Maloney on Friday, September 18th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The artist will begin her talk at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the Olin Art Gallery.
The exhibition continues through October 11th and is open daily from 12:00 noon-7:00 p.m.

Study Abroad Re-Entry Conference
The Office of Study Abroad is excited to announce W&J's participation in the inaugural Three Rivers Re-Entry Conference, to be held Saturday, November 14 at the University of Pittsburgh.
Conference highlights include: *Meeting other recent study abroad returnees from all over the Pittsburgh area *Hearing from dynamic and motivating keynote speakers *Learning how to talk about your newly acquired global skills in a job interview *Discovering how you can work or study abroad after graduation *Networking with professionals working in internationally-focused jobs *Staying connected to and sharing stories about your study abroad experience *Free lunch and snacks!
Spaces are limited - sign up details will be sent soon. Students who studied abroad or who completed an international Magellan project are eligible to attend. The conference is planned in conjunction with W&J, The University of Pittsburgh, Slippery Rock University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Carlow University, Duquesne University, Allegheny College, Robert Morris University, and Point Park University.
