It's Greek Week! This year's theme is 90s Nickelodeon. In celebration, many of the events will carry the 90s Nick flair including this year's banners which are on display in the Rossin Campus Center.  Also be sure to check out the full schedule of events at the button to the right.

TO ALL STUDENTS

A Reminder from the Business Office About Dining Dollar and Jay Cash Balances

To ALL SENIORS with JAY CASH:  Please use ALL your Jay Cash by the end of the spring 2015 semester.  You may use your Jay Cash at The Bookstore, and at any Dining location on campus including the Barista & Roasted.  If you do not use your Jay Cash, any remaining balances will be forfeited.  Please remember this is for SENIORS only.  Jay Cash rolls over each academic year for all other students!

 

To ALL STUDENTS with DINING DOLLAR BALANCES:  Please use ALL your Dining Dollars before the end of the spring 2015 semester.  These do not carry over to the new academic year.  These Dining Dollars can be used at any Dining location on campus, including the Barista. 

 

So get out there and spend your Dining Dollars!  Remember, it's use it or lose it!!!

2015 SUMMER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Summer is right around the corner and we are preparing for the 2015 Summer Student Employment Program at Washington & Jefferson College. The program commences on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 and spans through Sunday, September 6, 2015. You must be a returning W&J student to be eligible.

The vacant positions are currently posted and additional positions will be posted on a continuing basis throughout the summer. Please follow the instructions below to learn about W&J's summer employment opportunities. Application procedures are included in each job posting.

1. Go to www.collegecentral.com/washjeff

2. Click the "Student" icon

3. Click on the link "Create Account" - Enter the number on the back of your W&J ID card as the Access ID. Create a password.

4. After you log in, you will need to complete a short registration form and agree to a "Terms of Service" agreement.

  Type W&J in the Company Name

  Select "Seasonal" from the Job Type section

APRIL IS ALCOHOL ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH

Student Health & Counseling Services is sponsoring a screening and activities in recognition of April as Alcohol Abuse Awareness Month. There is so much we can do to improve the lives of friends and family members who may abuse alcohol.  Awareness is the first step!

SIGN-UP FOR LONDON INTERSESSION!

Sign-up by the end of this semester!

Participants will study and attend at least ten stage productions in London, the theatre capital of the world. These performances will form the core subjects of our readings, lectures, discussions, research, and writing.  You will also situate our study of London theatre amid the rich currents of Britain's history and culture, aiming to learn London's centrality to modern intellectual life, the arts, politics, and the history of Western Europe.

NATIONAL STUDENT EMPLOYMENT WEEK

All this Week!

W&J will be celebrating National Student Employment Week from April 13-17. Stop by our tables in George & Tom's and The Commons lobby all week to enter free raffles for prizes including gift cards and baskets. Jacob Bayha, who works for Intramurals, was chosen as our Student Employee of the Year. Other nominees included Angela Giglio, Matthew Class, Kyle Sossi, Chalese Wilson and Katherine Snyder. Congratulations to all of our student workers!

Photos are now on display in the Parcell Room of the Commons and will also be displayed during tonight's International Dinner so that the campus community has the opportunity to enjoy them. Prizes will be awarded to the participants who took the winning photos, which will be in a special display in the library April 20- May 1. Votes must be received by 12:00 midnight TONIGHT!

DPB'S EQUAL PAY DAY CUPCAKE SALE

Tuesday, April 14 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at G&T's

The Diversity Programming Board will be holding a cupcake sale in order to raise awareness of the gender wage gap. On average, a woman makes only 78 cents to a man's dollar. To reflect this statistic, DPB will be celebrating Equal Pay Day and selling cupcakes to women for 75 cents and to men for $1. Stop by for a cupcake and some facts about the gender wage gap!

W&J PRIDE PROM

This Friday from 8:30-11:00 PM in the Rossin Ballroom

Join W&J's Gay-Straight Alliance on Friday, April 17th from 8:30-11:00 PM in the Rossin Ballroom as we kick off Pride Week with a Pride Prom.  This event celebrates breaking the silence after National Day of Silence, which raises awareness of the bullying towards the LGBT community.  Enjoy a night filled with great music and light refreshments as we dance the night away.

 

SGA'S SPRING CONCERT: MIKE STUD

Doors open this Saturday at 8:30 pm!

Join us as Student Government Association brings Mike Stud and DJ Bonics to campus. Doors will open at 8:30 p.m. with performances starting at 9:00 p.m. on Olin lawn. Please bring your student ID with you for free admission including a wrist band. Entrance for faculty, staff, and community members can be bought at the door for $10. In case of severe rain, the event will moved to the Ballroom.

 

COME SUPPORT THE W&J DANCE TEAM

Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 pm in the Washington Park Primary School

The W&J Dance Team is proud to host its fourth annual intercollegiate Spring Fling Dance Competition on Saturday, April 25. All are invited to come and support our dance team in the competition and watch other local colleges' dance teams. The competition will begin at 1pm at Washington Park Primary School, (801 East Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301) located 5 minutes off-campus, and will last approximately two hours. There is no cost to watch, but there is a suggested $1 door donation. All donations will benefit JDRF, a foundation dedicated to type I diabetes research. Sunday, April 26 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Advance Auto Parts (E. Maiden St.)

Need your car washed after a long and dirty winter? Presidents without Borders is holding a car wash in order to raise funds for a medical mission trip to Mexico this August.  This is a great way to support your school's club, as well as get your car ready for spring and summer.  Hope to see you there!

HUMANE SOCIETY VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Register Today!

The Office of Community Engagement is coordinating another volunteer orientation and training with the Washington Area Humane Society on Sunday, April 19 from 2:00PM - 3:00PM. All volunteers with the Humane Society are required to participate in this orientation, and this training has been set up specifically for our students. Trained volunteers will have first come first serve on future W&J coordinated volunteer efforts with the WAHS. There are a limited number of spaces available, and they will be filled on a first come first serve basis. You can sign up here.  Any questions can be directed to volunteer@washjeff.edu.

Movin' Out! W&J's End of Year Sale & Charity Benefit - Registration is now open!

Why toss away all of your unwanted items at the end of the year, when you can make some money?! Join us for "Movin' Out," W&J's End of Year Sale & Charity Benefit! Movin' Out is a campus-wide yard sale for student, faculty and staff sellers, with sales being open to the community. Reserve your seller's table for the event today! There is a $10 fee for individual sellers (per table) and a 25% of final sales fee for student organizations and groups (multiple tables).  After the fees, Monday from the sales is yours to keep! Use this as a fundraiser for your organization, as a benefit for your own charity or cause, or keep the funds to help recuperate some of those semester expenses. It's up to you!
