MEMORIAL EVENT FOR DR. MIKE PETTERSON

There will be a memorial celebration at First Presbyterian Church today, Thursday, April 9, at 5:00 pm. All are welcome to this event to share our memories of our friend, colleague, and teacher.

 

If you wish to make a donation of some kind in Michael's name, the College has established an account for this purpose. Any such donations that you would like to make can be made out to the Michael S. Pettersen Fund and sent to the main College address or dropped off at the Academic Affairs office in Thompson Hall. The ultimate dispensation of this Fund will be made in consultation with Mike's longtime partner, Jim Tittle.

Presenter Eytan Millstone is an award-winning spoken word artist, comedian and published writer. Eytan will bring his personal story and childhood to the stage to recognize and appreciate the lessons learned through the influential role modeling of his mother and father. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

 

 

INTRAMURAL SOFTBALL

Sign-ups Close Friday at Noon

Sign-ups for Intramural Softball close this Friday at 12:00 pm.  Please submit entries to imsports@washjeff.edu.  Teams must have a minimum 10 players (with at least 2 females).  Games consist of 5 innings or a half hour time limit and they are played at Cameron Stadium from April 6-29.  Bats and gloves will be provided (gloves are in short supply, so it is suggested that you provide your own).

Starting Friday at 9:30 pm

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission -- protect his comrades -- to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. APRIL IS ALCOHOL ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH

Student Health & Counseling Services is sponsoring a screening and activities in recognition of April as Alcohol Abuse Awareness Month. There is so much we can do to improve the lives of friends and family members who may abuse alcohol.  Awareness is the first step!

WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT

Sunday at 3:00 pm in the Olin Theatre

Come join the Wind Ensemble this Sunday at 3:00 pm in Olin Theater for a free concert celebrating Spanish and Latin American music. Featuring such great music like the tangos of Astor Piazolla, to the refreshing music of trumpeter Perez Prado, you will not want to miss this concert. The concert is in conjunction with the integrated studies on Latin American culture. We hope you will join us for what promises to be a very engaging and festive event.

HUMANE SOCIETY VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Register Today!
The Office of Community Engagement is coordinating another volunteer orientation and training with the Washington Area Humane Society on Sunday, April 19 from 2:00PM - 3:00PM. All volunteers with the Humane Society are required to participate in this orientation, and this training has been set up specifically for our students. Trained volunteers will have first come first serve on future W&J coordinated volunteer efforts with the WAHS. There are a limited number of spaces available, and they will be filled on a first come first serve basis. You can sign up here.  Any questions can be directed to volunteer@washjeff.edu.

Why toss away all of your unwanted items at the end of the year, when you can make some money?! Join us for "Movin' Out," W&J's End of Year Sale & Charity Benefit! Movin' Out is a campus-wide yard sale for student, faculty and staff sellers, with sales being open to the community. Reserve your seller's table for the event today! There is a $10 fee for individual sellers (per table) and a 25% of final sales fee for student organizations and groups (multiple tables).  After the fees, Monday from the sales is yours to keep! Use this as a fundraiser for your organization, as a benefit for your own charity or cause, or keep the funds to help recuperate some of those semester expenses. It's up to you!
