W&J ALUM RICHARD CROSBIE PRESENTATION

Today at 4:00 pm, Richard Crosbie will be coming to speak in Swanson room 005.  Richard Crosbie was a philosophy and chemistry major at W&J who went to become a chief chemist of Nike.  He is coming to speak about this and answer any questions we might have for him.  Find out more about Mr. Crosbie here.

 

SEMESTER ABROAD SHOWCASE

Are you interested in the chance to explore an entirely new country and culture by studying abroad, and to learn more from a students' perspective? If so, the Semester Abroad Showcase is the perfect place for you!

 

The Office of Study Abroad is excited to host the second Semester Abroad Showcase today at 6 pm 109 Burnett!

This is an opportunity to hear all about study abroad from a W&J student's perspective. There will be free snacks, and we will do a drawing for prizes! ! After students share stories about their off-campus study experience you will have the chance to mingle and ask questions.  This is also a great opportunity to learn about scholarships and grants for study abroad!

 

The  next  Semester Abroad Showcases will be held April 23 with a special focus on Ecuador - mark your calendars now!

SGA ASSEMBLY MEETINGS TO RESUME NEXT WEEK

Sophomore applications for admission to the teacher certification program at W&J are due in to the Education Department no later than 3:00 pm this Friday in Room 020 Burnett. Please consult the Education Department for more information.

 

HOUSING SELECTION DEADLINES THIS FRIDAY

Housing Selection Registration

General Housing Selection, also known as the housing lottery and the most popular way to select housing for the 2015-2016 academic year, is well underway. Group registration for General Housing Selection is open online. Click here register your group of four today. Registration closes at 5:00 pm this Friday.

 

Theme Communities Individual Applications

W&J's Theme Communities for the 2015-2016 academic year are set and now accepting individual applications.  Click here to view learn more about next year's Theme Communities. Students interested in applying to live in a Theme Community as an individual should complete the Theme Community Individual Application and deliver it to the Office of Residence Life by 5:00 pm this Friday. Students interested in living in the Pet house must submit the Pet House Registration Form in addition to the Theme Community Individual Application.

 

ROBERT PATRICK ARTIST TALK

 

Friday at 6:00 pm 

On behalf of the Olin Art Gallery and the Art Department, it is with extreme pleasure that we invite the entire W&J community to attend the opening reception and artist talk for Portals a painting exhibition by Robert Patrick this Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The artist will begin his talk at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Olin Art Gallery. Robert Patrick lives and works in White Bear, Minnesota.  Patrick received his MFA and BFA from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. The exhibition continues through April 17th and is open daily from 12:00 - 7:00 pm.

ACTIVE MINDS FUNDRAISER & GUEST SPEAKER

 

"Let Yours Go" This Friday at 7:00 pm 

For $1/Balloon anyone can purchase a balloon to write down strife/burden/worries/etc. you want to release and move onward from.

Followed by a Professional speaker on the topic of Stigma and Mental Health and a final release of all balloons and one white lantern to symbolize community. This Friday from 7:00 - 8:00 pm on the Olin Lawn.

 

PHI KAPPA PSI & DELTA GAMMA CLOTHING DRIVE
  
Runs Until March 27

Phi Kappa Psi and Delta Gamma are putting together a clothing drive that benefits kids in Costa Rica. They are looking for Athletic clothing and any type of cleats in any size. Donations should be made by March 27 and should be delivered to the Phi Psi house or the Delta Gamma House.

PRESIDENT'S GOT TALENT

The Black Student Union is hosting their annual talent show, President's got talent on Saturday at 7:30 pm in Olin Theatre. This year BSU will be partnering with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to raise money to send rice to Africa. $1.00 donations will be collected at the door and the goal is to collect $250. 

 

SAB'S SKYZONE TRAMPOLINE PARK TRIP

The Student Activities Board is sponsoring a trip to the SkyZone Trampoline Park in Leetsdale this Sunday. Attendees will be leaving at 1:30 pm. There is a giant trampoline, trampoline dodgeball, etc. The cost of the trip is $5, which is non-refundable. Sign-up today in the Hub before spots run out!

Come join the Indian Student Association for "A Night in India" in Rossin Ballroom this Sunday from 2:00-5:00 pm. There will be free authentic Indian food and Henna Tattoos. There will also be performances from local Indian dance teams! We hope to see you there!

Monthly workshops series devoted to creating a space where students can have a discussion around a specific social identity and how it relates to the W&J community. This month we will be engaging in a deeper conversation around Gender Identity. Pizza will be served.

Class of 2015: A reminder that Senior Marketplace 2015 is Wednesday, April 1, from noon to 6 p.m. in the Ballroom.

 

This event will help you take care of the majority of your graduation business. You will be able to make sure all your graduation requirements are fulfilled and obtain cap & gown information. There will be detailed information on Senior Week, and tickets will be available for purchase. Everyone will get a gift just for attending and be eligible to win FABULOUS prizes! Refreshments will be served. Be sure to stop for a few minutes at the Senior Marketplace on Wednesday, April 1, from noon to 6 p.m.!

The Matthew Brown Fellowship

First Presbyterian Church 1793 is accepting applications for the Matthew Brown Fellowship. The Matthew Brown Fellowship is a faith-based project linking students with community service positions in Washington during the up-coming academic year.Students selected as fellows in the inter-faith project will be assigned to volunteer area community service organizations for an average of 5-6 hours a week or 15 hours per month.Fellows volunteer no less than 60 hours per semester and earn a stipend of $500.00 per semester ($1000.00 per year). Students will also receive a $250.00 book bonus at the beginning of each semester for books and supplies.The application deadline is 5 pm, Mon., March 30, 2015.  Students can find the application here.

GRE INFORMATION SESSION

Monday from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Dieter-Porter 106

All students who may be taking the GRE in the near future are invited to attend a GRE Information session on Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in Dieter-Porter 106. Dr. Klitz will discuss the current format of the GRE test and review some basic strategies and suggestions for preparing for the GRE General Test. At the end of the presentation, Dr. Klitz will also make a few comments about the GRE Psychology Subject Test. This presentation is lengthy (about 90 minutes) and includes a demonstration of the GRE PowerPrep software that you can use for test preparation.
