BRAHM'S GERMAN REQUIEM PERFORMANCE

This Weekend!

This weekend the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale and Orchestra will present Brahms' German Requiem. The performances will feature soloists John Dooley and W&J voice instructor Katy Williams. Members of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale include Camerata Singers alumni Ben Altomari, Ada Henigin, and Lance Turturice. Also joining the PCC for these performances is Dr. Michael Pettersen. The group is conducted by Dr. Susan Medley.

Performances are Saturday, March 7, 7:30 pm at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W. Ingomar Rd., Pittsburgh 15237, and Sunday, March 8, 4:00 pm at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd., Pittsburgh 15238. Tickets are $22 for adults, $8 for students, and free for children under 12. More details can be found at www.pccsing.org.

Unlike traditional requiem masses which are sung in Latin and offer prayers for the souls of the departed, Brahms' work is sung in German and offers comfort and hope to those left behind. It is one of the most beautiful choral/orchestral masterworks in the repertoire, and it will stay with you long after the performance is over.
