SOCIAL JUSTICE FILM SERIES: PEOPLE LIKE US

One of America's great national myths is that we live in a classless society, a place where poor children can grow up to be president, or at least president of IBM. People Like Us looks at how class really works in a America, examining how it affects our understanding of race and gender, investigation the exclusion of class from the national debate, and probing ways in which class differences shape daily life.

S.A.A.C. WINTER FOOD DRIVE

W&J's S.A.A.C. (Student Athletic Advisory Committee) is hosting a Winter Food Drive to benefit the Greater Washington County Food Bank. From January 10 to February 21 at all home Basketball, Swimming/Diving, and Wrestling events you can donate food items included in a holiday meal. Every partial meal or full meal donation gains you free admission into basketball games. S.A.A.C. representatives will be stationed in the lobby of Henry Memorial to take your donated items.

SPRING SEMESTER MEAL PLAN CHANGES

It is that time of year again that you can change your current meal plan. You have until Wednesday, February 4, 2015 to change your meal plan for the Spring 2015 semester, after February 4, 2015 at 5:00 pm meal plan changes will not be accepted!


We are once again doing it online, so you MUST go to the following link for any meal plan changes. If you do NOT want to change your meal plan, you do not need to do anything.  Again, please remember after Feb. 4, 2015 meal plans will not be able to be changed!

FRATERNITY RECRUITMENT

Fraternity Recruitment is right around the corner! This year our fraternities will be hosting a week of events starting on Sunday, February 1 through Thursday, February 5.  In order to join a fraternity you must register here. Registration is FREE!

 

* Students are eligible to join a fraternity after completing one semester at W&J and earning a GPA that meets the requirement of the chapter they wish to join (GPA requirements vary for each chapter, but no student may join a fraternity if his cumulative GPA is below a 2.50).

*All men interested in participating in Fraternity Recruitment must be registered by Friday, January 30th at 5pm.

SORORITY RECRUITMENT
Spring 2015 Sorority Recruitment will take place February 4-8 at W&J.

 

Students are eligible to join a sorority after completing one semester at W&J and earning a GPA that meets the requirement of the chapter they wish to join (GPA requirements vary for each chapter, but no student may join a sorority if her cumulative GPA is below a 2.50).

 

GPA Requirement for each sorority:

Delta Gamma: Must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Kappa Alpha Theta: Must have a 2.90 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Must have a 2.70 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Pi Beta Phi: Must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA to join

 

All interested women must sign up for recruitment and pay a $20 fee which includes a long sleeved t-shirt and registration fee.

The deadline to apply to study off-campus for the fall 2015 semester is quickly approaching! Applications are due to the Office of Study Abroad by March 1, 2015. To learn more, mark your calendar for the Study Abroad Info Session which will take place Thursday, February 5 at 5:30 pm in the Media Room.

 

Before applying, students are required to meet with the Director of Study Abroad. Schedule your appointment by clicking on the button below, including the country you hope to study in, your major(s)/minor(s), and a list of days and times you're available to meet (Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm).

The W&J Center for Energy Policy and Management is sponsoring a Student Research Paper Competition in the Spring Semester of 2015.

ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP MEETING

The Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is having its second meeting tonight, at 7:00 pm in the ski lodge.  We will be discussing the constitution/by-laws, vote for coordinators, discuss possible upcoming social and outreach events in the community or with another local OCF, and some extra stuff, too.  If you have any questions, comments, ideas, etc., feel free to email us.  Everyone is welcome to attend!  Hope to see you there!

INTRAMURAL SPORTS - ULTIMATE FRISBEE-SOCCER
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Sign-ups Close Friday, January 16

Sign-ups for Intramural Ultimate Frisbee-Soccer close Friday, January 16 at 12:00 pm.  Please submit entries via the button below.  Teams must have a minimum 4 players (with at least 1 female).  The game is played exactly like Ultimate Frisbee except that to score one must throw the Frisbee into a goal net.  Games are played in the Henry Memorial Back Gym through January 22.

MLK DAY OF SERVICE RECEPTION

Join us for an opportunity to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy on Monday, January 19th at 6:00 PM in the Media Room. Students who value the benefit of giving back to others are invited to attend this reception to enjoy some light refreshments, meet some of W&J's community partners and have a discussion around the Dr. King's legacy and impact he still has on our world today. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity Programs & Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Community Engagement.
