ANNOUNCEMENTS
PI PHI'S APPLE CIDER WITH THE ANGELS
Today and Tomorrow

Come to the Rossin Patio between 11:30 am and 4:00 pm today and tomorrow for a cup of apple cider at Pi Phi's Apple Cider with the Angels event. Proceeds benefit the Pi Beta Phi foundation which supports literacy.

WHEELING SYMPHONY CONCERT SERIES
Representative on Campus Today!

 

Lauren Carey, education coordinator for the Wheeling Symphony Society, will be at the mailroom table today.  Lauren is visiting local campuses to share the College Concert Series information with students and faculty. Stop by to find out more about the program and free tickets that are available to W&J Students!
 

PRODUCE TO PEOPLE - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Tomorrow 


 

Calling all volunteers!  We need your help for the Produce to People food distribution through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank tomorrow from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Produce to People is the Food Bank's large-scale produce distribution program. Each family receives 30-50 pounds of food, mostly fresh produce. Volunteers are needed to assist with anything from passing out the produce, to acting as runners and support. Volunteers can also work a partial day! Transportation to the fairgrounds will be provided on the hour from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, return trips will be on the half hour. Volunteers can sign up here.


 

ALPHA LAMBDA DELTA SUPPLY DRIVE
Tuesday through Thursday

Alpha Lambda Delta is holding a school wide school supply drive this Tuesday through Thursday! Items can be donated from 11:00am-3:00pm in G&Ts or from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm in front of the Commons. For every item donated you will receive a raffle ticket for a $20 bookstore gift card! 

FATHER ADAM VERONA FAREWELL DINNER
Wednesday at 6:00 pm

It was recently announced that one of our Campus Ministers, Father Adam Verona, has been reassigned to Carlow and will no longer be with us. This Wednesday (November 5th) at 6:00 pm in the Newman Center, the Newman Club will be having a farewell dinner to honor him. The student body is invited to attend, especially those who have met with Father Adam or attended his various talks on campus.

FIJI AND DG'S CAREER NIGHT
Wednesday at 7:00 pm

Come to Career Night and informally meet with Alumni from various professional fields including health care, law, pharmaceutical/tech sales, and business. All interested students are welcome! You don't have to be Greek to attend and refreshments will be served! The event runs from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday in the FIJI house. 2014 W&J SPEED NETWORKING EVENT
Juniors & Seniors Invited to Attend

 

Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend the 2014 W&J Speed Networking Event on Thursday, November 6 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm in the Allen Ballroom (Rossin Campus Center). 


 

Ditch the traditional networking reception! Practice your networking skills with successful alumni working in your field of study in a fun, high-energy atmosphere.

 

Students will have three minutes to network with each alumnus/a in attendance. This high-energy, low-pressure atmosphere gives students the valuable opportunity to interact with many different types of professionals and learn just what it takes to make a meaningful first impression. A reception will immediately follow the speed networking portion. Please bring your photo identification for the reception.

Be a part of V-Day &the 2015 Vagina Monologues Production! V-Day is a global movement of grassroots activists dedicated to generating broader attention and funds to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, FGM and sex slavery. The Vagina Monologues are student run production of the monologues written by V-Day founder Eve Ensler. If you are interested in being a part of the monologues in the Spring please complete the volunteer application here and return it to Devan Carrington in The HUB by this Friday.

Sign ups for Intramural 3v3 Basketball close this Friday, November 7 at 12:00 pm. Please submit entries to imsports@washjeff.edu.  Sign ups are available for a Women's Only League as well as a Coed League.  Please designate your intended league in your email.  Minimum rosters require 3 players, and games will be played in the Henry Memorial Back Gym November 10 through 25.

POINT OF VIEW DISCUSSION SERIES
Safe Zone Training

 

The Point of View Discussion Series is a monthly workshop series devoted to creating a space where students can have a discussion around a specific social identity and how it relates to the W&J community. 

 

This month's special edition of the POV series will give students, staff, & faculty the opportunity to be Safe Zone Certified! Safe Zone Trainings are created to develop, enhance, and maintain environments in workplaces, schools, and other social settings to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) individuals, as well as straight, cisgender people who care about diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The only way to be Safe Zone Certified is to stay for the entire training.

1st ANNUAL TURKEY BOWL
Register Your Team Today!

 

Sign-ups for the 1st Annual Flag Football Turkey Bowl are open until Friday, November 21 at 12:00 pm.  This is a one day, single elimination flag football tournament beginning at 11:00am on the Olin Lawn.  Minimum rosters require 6 players with at least 1 being female.  Please submit team entries to imsports@washjeff.edu.  Food and beverages will be provided.  

 

All teams must bring at least 1 grocery bag full of canned or non-perishable food items as a registration fee.  Food will be donated to the Greater Washington County Food Bank.  

 

DANCE A THON
Help Fight Childhood Cancer

 

The W&J Greek Community is joining the B+ Foundation to fight childhood cancer! On Saturday, November 22 at 3:00 pm in the Rossin Ballroom the Greek Organizations along with other campus organizations will be sponsoring a dance a thon.  Donate to your favorite team here

SPRING 2015 SORORITY RECRUITMENT
Registration is Open

 

Spring 2015 Sorority Recruitment will take place February 4th-8th at W&J.

Students are eligible to join a sorority after completing one semester at W&J and earning a GPA that meets the requirement of the chapter they wish to join (GPA requirements vary for each chapter, but no student may join a sorority if her cumulative GPA is below a 2.50).

 

GPA Requirement for each sorority:

Delta Gamma: Must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Kappa Alpha Theta: Must have a 2.90 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Must have a 2.70 or higher cumulative GPA to join

Pi Beta Phi: Must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA to join

 

All interested women must sign up for recruitment and pay a $20 fee which includes a long sleeved t-shirt and registration fee.

 

INTERSESSION HOUSING REQUEST FORM
Mandatory for Those Staying on Campus For Intersession

 

As you prepare to register for classes or make plans for Intersession 2015, fill out the Intersession Housing Request Form if your plans will require you to stay on campus.  Please note that registering for a class will not automatically include you on the approved housing roster for Intersession. In addition, whether you are working for a campus office, are an international student, or registered for a class there is no charge for your housing.  The Office of Residence Life will review your request and send all approvals to your W&J email account.  This form must be completed no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12th.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Office of Residence Life at 724-229-5120 or reslife@washjeff.edu.
