W&J COLLEGE COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

Sign-Ups Continue in G&T's Today, Tomorrow, & Monday

 

A College community blood drive will be held on Wednesday, September 17 and Thursday, September 18 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Campus Center Ballroom. Appointments can be scheduled by going here and clicking on "Make an Appointment" with group code CU200014 or by signing up at the table by G&T's today, tomorrow, or Monday.

CONVERSATION PARTNERS INFO MEETING

Tonight from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm


 
An informational meeting on the Conversation Partners program will take place tonight from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Fireplace Lounge (Hub UL). The program is a great way to meet students from around the globe, help international students practice English through informal conversation, and make a new friend! College Chaplain Pastor Gary Gibson will hold open office hours on Fridays from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. His office is located in the lower level  of the Commons off the Ski Lodge - Office 002B. ABRAHAM FERRARO RECEPTION & TALK

Friday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

 

On behalf of the Olin Art Gallery and the Art Department, it is with extreme pleasure that we invite the entire W&J community to attend the opening reception and artist talk for Which Way an installation by Abraham Ferraro on Friday, September 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The artist will begin his talk at approximately 7:00 pm in the Olin Art Gallery.

 

Abraham Ferraro teaches at The College of St. Rose, Albany, NY.  Ferraro received his MFA from Albany State University of New York and his BFA from the State University of New York, Fredonia.


 

The exhibition continues through October 12th and is open daily from 12:00 noon-7:00 p.m.

TWO MOVIES ON CAMPUS THIS WEEKEND!

Friday & Saturday Nights

 

SAB will be sponsoring a Drive-In style showing of Jumanji on the Old Main lawn as a tribute to Robin Williams. The show begins at 9:30 pm.


 

SAIL will be showing Captain America: The Winter Soldier as part of their "Movies in the Alley" series. The showing will be in the Hub Alley and Monticello's will be open and serving through their Alley window. The show begins at 9:30 pm. The "Movies in the Alley" series occurs the second and fourth weekends of each month.

SATURDAY SHOPPING SHUTTLE

Saturday at 1:00 pm

 

A shopping shuttle to the Mall at Robinson will be running this Saturday. The shuttle departs from the Campus Ctr. Circle at 1:00 pm and is free with student ID. *Please note, this is an updated time and was formerly listed at 11:00 am*

FIJI COOKOUT & ALS CHALLENGE

Sunday at 5:00 pm

 

FIJI will be hosting a cookout and ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at the side lawn of the FIJI house on Sunday starting at 5:00 pm. All are welcome to attend!

 

NEWMAN CENTER SUNDAY MASS

Every Sunday at 7:00 pm

 

The Newman Center (Across College St., behind the Hub) holds mass every Sunday at 7:00 pm. All students are welcome to attend!

CARING COUNTS

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month


 

Two suicide risk reduction and gatekeeper skills workshop sessions will be held on Monday and are open to all W&J students, faculty, and staff. The workshop enables participants to learn about:

  • Factors which increase the risk of suicide
  • How to recognize a community member at risk
  • Ways to approach and talk to a person we are concerned about
  • How to make appropriate referrals
  • Things we can do to reduce the risk factors
Session 1 will be held from 3:30 pm - 5:15 and session 2 will be from 5:30 pm - 7:15 pm. Refreshments will be served.

Occurring monthly at the Barron P. McCune Alumni house, the Alumni Student Networking Dinners are designed to provide students a relaxed, informal way to meet alumni and learn about their career experiences and time at W&J. With an attendance of 8-10 guests (4-5 students, 4-5 alumni) and a different industry focus each month, the dinners provide students the opportunity to network with professionals working in their field of study. Wheeling St. Parking Restriction

Please do not park your vehicle on Wheeling Street between the Olin loading dock and Olin Lawn all day Monday. Several trucks will be on the street unloading pianos and the sides of the road will need to be clear.

Lemonade for Literacy will be held Monday & Tuesday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Campus Ctr. Circle.
