When I-85 finally opened for traffic
after years of anticipation, local lore has it
that an old farmer decided to see what
all the hoopla was about. So he ambled on to
the Interstate at the southern access and proceeded north towards the next exit
about six miles ahead. As he puttered along around 35 mph in his old Chevy pickup,
cars were whizzing past him at
speeds exceeding 70 mph.
Before he reached his designated exit,
a blue light appeared in his rear view mirror
& a Georgia State Patrolman (or Smoky as we call them in the South) pulled him over. When the Smoky reached the truck, he asked the old farmer if he had any idea why he was pulled over. "Yes sir," the farmer drawled, "The way I figure it, I was the only one you could catch."
