Creating A Niche By Disrupting A Market
I am very pleased to share with you that my youngest sister, Alice Brown, has a company, www.WeddingPetals.com, that has been nominated as a finalist in the Martha Stewart American Made competition. "Through American Made, Martha Stewart and the editors of Martha Stewart Living are spotlighting great American makers: entrepreneurs, artisans, and small-business owners who are creating beautiful, inspiring, useful products ... ."
Alice was the pioneer many years ago of using dried flowers and herbs in place of rice at weddings. Many others have copied her idea, but it was my little sister who started it all!
Her creation, Flowerfetti, qualifies for entrepreneurial recognition as a pioneer of the new tradition of tossing fragrant lavender as an elegant alternative to wedding rice. At the time, it was a brave idea, and now it has become a fashionable trend! It all began with an herb garden and a passion for herbs. After researching the historical use of herbs in weddings, inspiration came to create modern, symbolic herbal confetti.
Blessed to be featured in bridal magazines, blogs, and on TV, Alice's Wedding Herbs has turned into a real cottage industry. Inspired by The Language of Flowers, her biodegradable botanical confetti ships nation-wide today.
From an idea to substance, from "the dining room" to a new workshop, and through seasons of life, she has persevered, now celebrating 25 years! From the start, Alice forged a modern niche of ecofriendly confetti, perfect for weddings of today!
And this is where YOU can help!
