As Rehab Management Solutions embarks on new challenges and opportunities in 2013, it's important to stop and consider where we've been, where we're at now and where we're going in the future. One way to achieve that is by looking back at all we've accomplished in the last year. 

 

Since the best way to predict your future is to create it, we wanted to show how we're creating a successful future by recapping some of our biggest accomplishments of 2012. While this list is not exhaustive, it shows how everyone's efforts are creating a crown jewel company in our industry.

Continuing Education
* Our providers showed tremendous dedication to advancing their treatment of the injured worker - Many helped develop our Work Injury Prevention Initiative and multiple therapists took part in a multi-day summit to learn clinical strategies to grow a work injury program
* Multiple providers in our family of talent continued to contribute their expertise to industry trade publications, authoring articles and columns while giving back to the therapy discipline
* Numerous therapists earned DPT degrees, applying their talent in the classroom and staying consistent with Vision 2020
* Our entire network remained committed to advancing their education by attending multiple continuing education web events on a variety of topics throughout the year 

Clinic Growth
* Clinical leaders further committed themselves to creating an exceptional guest experience through the collaborative sharing of treatment techniques between colleagues and other clinics
* Our family's athletic trainers took an active role to become experts in the management of head injuries, receiving comprehensive training and transforming our clinics into Centers for Excellence in Pre- and Post-Concussion Management
* Through the new RMS e-Store, therapists gained an exciting way to purchase apparel that shows off their brand in the community
* Multiple new therapists joined our family of talent, and our PTRS brand especially saw a surge in growth of new providers

Community Outreach
* Our savvy providers continued to position themselves as experts in the eyes of patients by authoring articles, columns and providing guest lectures in their community
* Numerous clinics celebrated milestones in their community, inviting past and present patients to share in their success with Open Houses
* Local races and fitness events offered a great way for our clinics to engage their community, and promote their expertise and brand while offering free injury screens

Referral Relationship Building
* Our network of innovative providers saw success in collaborating with local athletic teams to generate new referrals and bring qualified new patients into the clinic
* As a result of enhanced training on managing workers' compensation cases, providers continued to collaborate with physicians on the best courses of treatment for the injured worker and athlete
* Our savvy providers saw an increase in referrals by utilizing many different media to reach out to physicians and referral sources, including letters, postcards, electronic media and old-fashioned foot traffic

Practice Diversification
* Multiple practices added transportation services to better serve patient needs and gain a competitive edge for referrals in their community

* Our industry-leading clinics set themselves apart in their community by offering specialty services and treatment devices, expanding treatment options and enhancing patient outcomes
* Our therapists continued to impact the physical therapy discipline outside the clinic setting with various appointments to state boards and advocacy groups

Practice Management & Compliance
* The Central Office's Managed Care team continued to regularly audit all payer contracts to ensure strong reimbursement, helping to reinforce critical success factors that affect volume of visits and reimbursement
* The collection of upfront payments for patient co-pays and deductibles was enhanced, a critical success factor for improved compliance and healthy cash flow
* Providers' licenses were protected and compliance was ensured through proactive monitoring of changes to the Medicare therapy cap exceptions process
* The Central Office continued to stay current on trends in the changing federal landscape of healthcare reform, including potential changes to the Medicare fee schedule


Human Resources

* Efficiency, productivity and overall employee health were all enhanced with the continuation of our wellness incentive program
* Healthcare costs to our clinics and Central Office were contained and our bottom line protected by offering economical group health insurance policies
* Clinical and Central Office assets were protected with the renewal of various insurance policies, which were secured at cost-saving and competitive rates
* Our clinics and Central Office continued to attract quality healthcare professionals dedicated to the mission of physical therapy by offering competitive salary and benefit packages 

General Accomplishments
* The RMS Spirit Committee helped to embrace and champion Value Goals, which drove performance results in our daily work
* The RMS Marketing Team utilized progressive new methods to recruit clinical talent, including social media and industry websites
* Our paradigm of clinic branding was changed after our family of talent read and studied the innovative concepts presented in the BrandsFormation book
* RMS leaders shared their knowledge and helped contribute to the success of other therapy practices around the country through interviews with leading Physical Therapy media outlets
* Our family of talent helped raise money for men's health issues after not shaving for the entire month of November
* Our Principal & COO Connie Ziccarelli expressed gratitude and appreciation to the colleagues that have assisted her in private practice Physical Therapy after being unanimously appointed Chairperson of the APTA's Private Practice Section Administrator's Council
