The Journey to the Basics
As we come into finishing out our summer season, we begin to contemplate fall and the looking inward that comes with that season.
This transition time is the perfect time to go back to basics (read: the most important parts of training).
Our To-Shin Do curriculum is so brilliantly designed to take each student on an inner and outer exploration... from the development of confidence in Earth Realm (and realizing you can bend your knees).... to the ability to gather information effectively in Water Realm ( welcome to angles)...next the energy rises to take action in Fire Realm (breath changes and trust your gut and go)....and then the opportunity to let go, to "bail out" if needed in Wind Realm (think of freedom). Then you put this all together with the ultimate creative potential of the Void Realm.
And did we mention there is so much more beyond the above mentioned lessons?
We encourage each of our students to "go back to basics" this month. Look at your curriculum- pick it apart. How can you improve your taijutsu in each class? How can you align your thinking with your movement? Is your awareness expanded?
This journey is a mastery of basics....that aren't all that basic ( if we are to embody these lessons in mind, body and spirit, then basic takes on a new meaning :)
