FROM THE CEO

I came away from Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg with two thoughts about the inflight connectivity industry.

The industry is really gaining real momentum: we made four customer announcements in the past month for fleet deployments. We're not talking about trials and single aircraft any more.

Passengers and crew want and need inflight connectivity, as they do on the ground. They need to know what to expect before they step onto the aircraft. That is why airlines are equipping fleets with tailored solutions to meet their needs, for a reliable and constant global coverage to avoid a patchy service.

Our thoughts about the Connected Aircraft 3.0 were also validated: once you provide the aircraft with connectivity you open the door to real operational improvements.

It reflects how the use of communications is changing on the ground. After all, people are the same whether they are flying or not. The Connected Aircraft 3.0 uses mobile technology, it drives location-based communications which encourages the use of social networks

One thing to look out for is OnAir Play, coming in early 2014.

Sincerely

Ian Dawkins
