Up Right: Detroit Benefits Museum Education Programs UpRight

Thursday, September 24

Tickets are now on sale for the exclusive world film premiere of Nick Cave's Up Right: Detroit on Thursday, September 24, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. All proceeds from the event will benefit Cranbrook Art Museum education programs. Filmed at the historic Michigan Theatre, Up Right: Detroit is a short feature film conceived by Nick Cave as an "act of initiation" and a preparation of the mind, body, spirit, and selfhood of a group of young adults from the Ruth Ellis Center. The participants undergo a ritual of being costumed in elaborate soundsuits and enter the city, transformed. The evening includes an opening reception with Nick Cave, the film premiere, and a Q&A with Nick Cave and Curator Laura Mott following the film. Tickets for the fundraiser are $250 each ($225 if purchased by September 10). Please contact Susan Hall at 248.645.3579 for more info or click here to register
