Yoga in the Gardens - Individual Sessions Added! Yoga

Connect with nature and yourself in this outdoor yoga program at Cranbrook Gardens! Yogis will enjoy the serenity of the gardens while building strength, balance, muscle tone, and relieving stress. Yoga in the Gardens is an adult yoga class designed for all ages and skill levels; no prior experience necessary to join. Since yoga is all about being flexible, an individual session option has been added to make participating in the program a breeze! $18/session for nonmembers; $15/session for members of Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary, Cranbrook Art Museum, and Cranbrook Institute of Science. HUB Exhibition Celebrates 50 Years Strong HUB

Horizons Upward Bound is celebrating its 50th year with 50 Years Strong: The Evolution of HUB at Cranbrook, an exhibition developed by Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research which runs through November 29 at Cranbrook Art Museum. On Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 am Live in the D WDIV Detroit, will feature an in-depth look at the program. The celebration culminates with a Gala on Saturday, November 14. Asteroid Day at Cranbrook Institute of Science asteroid

Cranbrook Institute of Science is hosting a series of activities, displays and lectures in observance of Asteroid Day, a global movement established to heighten awareness of the potential threat to humanity posed by asteroid impacts. It is estimated that there are a million asteroids in our solar system that have the potential to strike Earth and destroy a city but to date we've only discovered one percent of them! Activities include a lecture by local astronomer and NASA Solar System Ambassador Robert Trembley, plus the chance to handle genuine meteorites.

Nick Cave Dance Labs with Cranbrook Art Museum Dancelab

Cranbrook Art Museum will partner with the 

Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) to present three Dance Labs designed by Nick Cave. He will pair three local dance companies with three musicians to create their own choreographed works with his extraordinary sculptures. The rehearsals at MOCAD will be open to viewers, and the three public performances will be staged in locations throughout Detroit. Click here for the Dance Labs schedule.

Bioblitz Will be a Blast! bioblitz

Cranbrook and the Organization for Bat Conservation at Cranbrook Institute of Science will present the Community's first-ever BioBlitz--a FREE, 24 hour nature event that gets visitors outside to explore and discover the living things on Cranbrook's Campus. Scientists will help groups catalog and record species, presenters will showcase live animal programs, and artists will observe and express creativity through nature. This all-ages, family-friendly outdoor experience is open to anyone who wants to learn more about local wildlife.

Attend Designing Summer: Objects of Escape to examine Michigan's historical connection to the summer months, when the thriving automobile industry and growing middle class led to a surge in summertime road trips up north. Exclusively featuring works by Michigan designers and makers, the exhibition contains objects from the mid-century through today that were created to enjoy the country drives, cabins and lakes, picnic days, and starry nights in the Great Lakes State. The Cranbrook Summer Art Institute (CSAI) is still accepting students for its intensive pre-college summer programs for artists between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. CSAI students spend their summer as part of a community of talented students and teachers from around the world. From Fashion Design to Figure Drawing, CSAI students will receive individual attention and innovative instruction. Art, Architecture, and Design camps are also available for grades one through nine.
