Cookies with Santa at Cranbrook House Cookies

Cranbrook House celebrates the season with a visit from Santa Claus on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from Noon to 3:00 pm. The festivities of the day include a chance for kids to share their holiday wish list with Santa Claus, listen to a holiday story told by our merry volunteers, and color a holiday picture. Families are encouraged to bring their own camera as professional photography is not provided. Doors will open at 11:45 am, admission is free for adults (only two adults allowed per child as space is limited) and $10 per child. Reservations must be made by December 3, 2014. Please call the Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary office to reserve tickets at 248 645.3149 or fill out the online reservation form.   

Cranbrook Music Guild Celebrates the Contributions of Women in Music Music

The Cranbrook Music Guild acknowledges the contributions women have made to music during 

Brava: Notable Women in Music/Women of Vision on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm at Cranbrook Institute of Science. Guest speaker Karen Di Chiera, composer and director of education at the Michigan Opera Theater, will explore the role of women in music and throughout the evening guest will be treated to music from different centuries and have the chance to stroll among the exhibits at the Institute of Science and Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment. Light savories, desserts/coffee and a cash bar will be the finishing touch to a delightful evening. Tickets are $30 per person. For tickets, please call 248 645.0097 or click here. Cranbrook Art Museum Opens Three Exhibitions & Offers "Drop-in" Sunday Art

Three new exhibitions opened at Cranbrook Art Museum in November, including The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders, Theater of the Mind and Iris Eichenberg: Bend. Sunday events on December 14 will offer unique experiences that complement the exhibitions. Miniature Hall of Wonders from 2:00 to 4:00 pm allows visitors to use the curator's scale model of The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders: Artwork, Objects, and Natural Curiosities to install their own selection of diverse artwork and artifacts, and create an illustration of your miniature gallery show. At 4:00 pm, December 14, there will be an exhibition opening within The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders by Detroit artist Marie T. Hermann, and Los Angeles artist Marcos Luytens performs a mass-hypnotism! Cranbrook Institute of Science Celebrates the Holidays with Women of Vision CIS

The Institute of Science closes the run of Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment with special free events December 26-30 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm each day. Special guided tours of the exhibition will be offered, and objects from the Institute's collection representing the people and places featured in the photographs will be on display. Special daily planetarium and bat shows will be offered at an additional charge December 26-30. The Institute of Science is closed December 24, 25, and 31, 2014, and January 1, 2015. Cranbrook Schools' Open House CS

Cranbrook Schools' winter 2015 Open House will take place on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 1:00 to 

3:00 pm. The event is open to all families with children considering pre-kindergarten through high school.
