Annual Appeal Results

On behalf of COVE Alliance and COVE Center students and staff, we would like to give a very warm thank you to everyone who donated to COVE's Annual Appeal in 2014. The goal of our fundraising campaign was to provide sustainability for the COVE Center while allowing for growth. Without the support of COVE's friends and family, such dreams could not be realized.  With your support we were able to raise over $15,000. Your generosity also allowed for a wonderful holiday party and holiday gifts for the children.

We thank our Executive Director Fr. Hilary for the precious time and energy he has placed in his dream, which has been a source of motivation for both COVE boards and their members. We also thank the wonderfully engaged Ugandan caregivers, cooks, nurses, social workers, and teachers for their loving care shown to our precious sponsored children.

We thank our sponsors for their dedication to their sponsored children who are healthier and happier as a result of their sponsors' love and generosity.

Finally, we give many thanks to our tireless volunteers and board members for their endless hours of support.

Holiday Sale Raises Funds for COVE

On December 4th, 2014 COVE Alliance held a Holiday Sale at Vernon Hills High School. In partnership with the VHHS International Club, COVE sold ornaments, wreaths, garland and many other holiday wares. All proceeds from the sale of these items (totaling nearly $2,000) will be used to benefit the children of COVE Alliance.

Graduates Honored

COVE is happy to announce the graduation of four COVE girls from St. Mary's Vocational School. The graduates received first grades in hairdressing and cosmetology; their high marks are a reflection of their hard work, and will make securing a job that much easier.

COVE Uganda congratulates the students on the completion of their studies and extends a warm thanks to St. Mary's for the efforts they put forth in ensuring the COVE girls acquired these skills. The graduation was on the 21st of November, and the COVE Christmas party took the opportunity to celebrate with the women as well.

Christmas Party

Christmas time in Uganda is a beautiful season, and at the St. Jerome COVE Center it is filled with cheer and wonder. The annual COVE Christmas party gives the children the opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and thank God for what they have been given and achieved through education.

At this year's party COVE also celebrated the achievements of many of the students. In addition to the four graduates mentioned in the article above, eleven students completed seventh grade, four students completed senior four (junior year of high school), and three young men joined universities.

The celebration began with a mass led by Fr. Jerome; the Deputy Chancellor of Kasana Luweero Diocese. Co-celebrants were Frs. Hilary, Peter and Vincent. Christmas party attendees included: board members, health unit management committee, school management committee members, parents, COVE staff, community leaders, and of course the COVE children.

The children decorated the COVE campus with crafts, flowers and balloons, and felt proud to see that their contribution was appreciated by the guests. Another excellent Christmas activity the children participated in this year was a play about the birth of Jesus Christ. The play was a definite hit with everyone that attended. All of the children also received a Christmas blanket as their gift!
