 'Seeds of Hope' 2014 Fundraiser

"The Journey Continues" was the theme of COVE Alliance's 9th annual fundraiser, 'Seeds of Hope', held April 5th at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, IL. Executive Director Fr. Hilary opened the evening with a heartfelt speech.  After dinner, Chairman Bill Armstrong took us on a visual journey of COVE's accomplishments over the years. A special tribute for the support of Vernon Hills High School, under the leadership of Dr. Ellen Cwick, was presented. Sponsors whose children had graduated from Vocational or College Prep High schools were honored.  What a testament to COVE 's success that the three of the graduates are now preparing for a university education!

The fundraiser was a great success, raising more than $22,000! Thanks to all our volunteers, attendees and many generous donors who made this one of our most successful events ever! The journey will continue as we strive to improve the health, education, hope and sustainability of the children less fortunate in the Kapeeka region.

Thank you for your continued support!

A Message From Fr. Hilary

"Not to us,O' Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory..."
- Psalms 115:1

Dear all friends of COVE Alliance,

Experiencing the growth of COVE Alliance in its service to the orphaned and vulnerable children in Kapeeka-Uganda is a great reason for giving praise to God Almighty. Since 2005, every story of success builds on the other, and your support contributes greatly in enabling COVE Alliance to keep the 196 sponsored children in schools, pay for their tuition, buy for them school supplies, clear their medical bills, buy for them school uniforms and feeding them while at school. It is your support that has enabled COVE Alliance to build and run well a Boarding Primary School in rural Uganda, currently operating from Primary one through primary six. Next year December of 2015, St. Jerome COVE Primary School will have its first graduation with about 25 candidates.

Therefore, on behalf of the children who are the sole reason for our existence, on behalf of the two COVE Alliance Boards (COVE USA and COVE Uganda ), and on my own behalf, I would like to thank the various committees that organized the various fundraising events which generated the funds that continue to support the COVE Alliance activities in Uganda. In a special way, I would like to thank all of you who attended and contributed generously to the 2014 Seeds of Hope fundraiser. As you all know, we are planting seeds. We have hope that one day these children we are helping will be the leaders of the world. Above all, what we envision is seeing these young ladies and gentlemen able to living sustainably. May God's name be glorified for the success of the 15 ladies and gentlemen who completed their vocational training and now are ably working in their fields of specialization, and are able to earn a living for themselves and their families.

MUSIC FESTIVAL

St. Jerome COVE Primary School participated in the religious music festival on April 3, 2014. Four schools competed in Set piece (music), play drama and dialogue (conversational story between 2 people). St. Jerome COVE students came in 1st place in Set piece and 2nd place in play drama and dialogue, which qualified them to go to the competition at the diocesan level. On April 11, St. Jerome represented the Kapeeka parish at that level and won 2nd place in Set piece. Congratulations!
