A Year End Letter from COVE
| | |
|
Dear friends,
The blessed holiday season is now upon us. We are all busy decorating, shopping and preparing to share the coming days with our family and friends. It is a time for rejoicing and being thankful, but it is also a time for giving. Remembering COVE Alliance with a year-end donation is a great way to show your support.
COVE Alliance is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda. COVE Alliance began as the dream of a single Ugandan man who brought his vision of a school and health clinic with him, to the U.S. Since 2005, he has worked tirelessly to raise enough money to build a primary school (grades 1-5), dormitories and a health clinic. These children now attend school indoors and stay at the campus where they have both food and shelter instead of walking miles every day to attend school. The progress is truly amazing. Please read more about it at www.covealliance.org
So much more needs to be done. We still need a school for grades six and seven, continued access to clean water, supplies, lodging, and fencing. Essentially, we need miracles.
You can make an immediate difference. We currently have donated funds to match the first $3,500 in donations. If we make our goal of an extra $3,500, we will have $7,000 to make a huge difference in the life of a Ugandan child. You can donate via PayPal by clicking the Donate button on the right.

Saint Jerome COVE Center Christmas Party
| | |
|
The following was received in a letter from the staff COVE Uganda
"Let the children come to me"
The St. Jerome COVE Christmas Party was held on December 7th and enjoyed by all. The celebration began with the Mass led by Fr. Hilary and the presentation of the gifts followed. The 10 best COVE performers were awarded school bags by the guest of honor, Salim Saleh, the brother of the president of Uganda. All other children received either a mattress (if boarding at the campus) or a garden hoe for their families. Entertainment and a fundraiser followed.
This was the first fundraiser that COVE Uganda has held and it was eagerly supported by the parents/guardians, who provided items such as chickens, goats, agricultural items, baskets and shoes. The proceeds of this sale will go toward the St. Jerome COVE fencing project.

VHHS Holds COVE Care Package Program
| | |
The First Class character education group, at Vernon Hills High School, sponsored the COVE Care Package program this holiday. Nearly 350 boxes were filled with suggested gifts, wrapped, collected, and ear-marked for shipment to the children in Uganda. As the students were checking in their boxes, they commented: "This makes me feel so good inside", "I could not believe that we were able to make 10 boxes from our study hall class." Watching them, with their arms full of boxes, in the foyer of the high school, was a testament to goodness and joy that fills our heart when we are extending ourselves beyond the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.
