Father Hilary's Visit "Believe" | | |
Fr. Hilary's visit was filled with well wishes, thankfulness and a tireless ability to continue outreach. All of you and Fr. Hilary are a team of talented, generous and motivated individuals who "Believe" in the mission to continue to bring hope to the children of Uganda. The "Seeds of Hope" fundraiser was filled with that spirit. We had our very first graduation ceremony, in which the sponsors of children who graduated received

graduation certificates. Ten of our sponsored children have graduated from Vocational school and these children are now employed and supporting their families in Uganda. Some of the sponsors of graduated students are also supporting yet another child on the path to education.
We have three students who will be graduating from grade S6 (College Prep) this December and are expected to be attending University by this time next year!
We also have one student who will graduate from Professional Education courses with a Nursing degree this December.
This has not gone unnoticed in Uganda. One of the teachers from a neighboring school has seen the results of children graduating and supporting their families. The community is requesting to be taught how to read and write in English. This is a tribute to you.

Dr. Cwick presents Fr. Hilary with a check.

Vernon Hills High School was the first to partner. They built primary 1 and 2 four years ago. It was dedicated in 2009. The principal, Dr. Ellen Cwick went to Uganda along with other teachers and students for that dedication. This year Dr. Cwick presented a check to Fr. Hilary and is planning a return trip this summer.

Fr. Hilary poses with students from U of I.

He outreached to the students at the University of Illinois. He told them of the years of war, ravaging and a campaign to destroy human dignity and hope. He also showed them, how the COVE Campus has brought that hope back to the community through education. The University of Illinois is planning a trip in June to study the use of water filtration.

Fr. Hilary gets a chance to steer a sailboat. |
Fr. Hilary took the time to enjoy the fundraiser, honor the sponsors, break bread with new and long time friends, visit with the seminarians and Auxiliary Bishop Rojas, and, yes, steer a sailboat.
Long ago, as a child, he desired to help those in his village. He suffered unusual emotional and physical deprivation at that time in his life, yet he continued to believe in the future of education. This is a clear mission that flows from his very person. In addition to the proceeds from the "Seeds of Hope" fundraiser, Fr. Hilary personally accepted over $18,000 in donations for that vision.
Continue to "Believe" in what is yet to come with the spirit of COVE Alliance. |
