Warm winter greetings to you!

Here we are well into the new year already.  2015 promises to be another exciting year. It is the prime time for exploring fresh ideas and setting new goals. We all look forward to all the opportunities and possibilities the year will hold. Last year was the busiest year ever. Now I'm into my 25th year! So hard to believe. We have some great new properties being prepared for market that will come up soon.  Also some great new additions to the business this year. Stay tuned!

The Twin Cities remains one of the strongest markets in the country. Presently our listing inventory numbers are low with 12,821 available homes to sell. Median sale price is at $200,000 and the average market time is 2.9 months. With rates well below 4% we're off to another great start!

I'm extremely optimistic for sellers and happy to see the buying power the low rates offer to buyers.

Stay warm and find some way to try to enjoy this weather! And enjoy Super Bowl 49 on February 1st - looks like it's Patriots and Seahawks!

Report: Signs point to a healthy - and growing - Twin Cities housing market

By Melissa Turtinen

The Twin Cities housing market continued to recover in 2014, and improvements in the local economy will help boost the metro real estate market in 2015, the Minneapolis and St. Paul Associations of Realtors annual report says.

The Star Tribune notes that by nearly every indication, the 2014 housing market was the healthiest since it's been since the crash in 2008.

Some highlights from the report:

Median home prices rose 7.2 percent to a seven-year high of $205,739 and houses spent fewer days on the market compared to last year, which inspired more sellers to list their homes - 73,768 properties went on the market last year, which is a 2.3 percent increase from 2013 and the highest level since 2010.

Annual Real Estate Investment Overview (AREIO)

Here's a question: when did you last review your real estate portfolio? Just like your stock portfolio or insurance policies, your real estate investment(s) should receive an annual review. This includes your personal residence too!

Markets change, properties age, interest rates move up and down - all these factors make it a good idea to sit down with me and review your real estate investments on an annual basis.

Burglary Statistics and Prevention

By HomeAdvisor

Before you go on vacation this holiday season, have you prepared against burglary? Do you store your valuables, close the blinds, lock the back door and so on? Many homeowners might be unaware of a string of burglaries in their neighborhood and come home to find their house broken into as a result.

Home burglaries account for $4.7 billion in property losses every year in the United States, because burglars find a way in.

According to statistics, a home burglary occurs every 13 seconds because someone forgot to lock a window or door -- almost 30% of the time. With you going on holiday, make some home security investments to avoid inclusion in this statistic.

Winter in the Twin Cities: Outdoor fun

By Paige Elliott

The Christmas tree, lights, and tinsel may be put away, but Jack Frost is here to stay...for a while. The early arrival of frigid sub-zero temperatures this season have made parts of December feel a lot like January. But no, we've only just begun, folks.

Maybe the old saying, if you can't beat it, join it is the best mindset to adopt when battling winter blues and cabin fever. Why not add a bit of outdoor winter fun to your fitness and social routine? Bundle up and try something new!

Below we've compiled a few outdoor winter activities in the Twin Cities (and beyond), from cross-country skiing and ice skating, to winter festivals and sled rallies, that provide an incentive to get out in natural light and engage the snowy landscape

Money Magazine Ranks Eagan as Top 20 Places to Live in US in 2014
By Cassie Hart

For a decade Money Magazine has ranked Eagan as one of the Top 20 places to live in America. Eagan is the only Minnesota city to have five consecutive top 20 finishes in these rankings issued every two years.

Among the highlights of the recently completed 2014 Eagan Residential Survey, elected officials learned that:

  • 96 percent of Eagan residents polled rate the quality of life as excellent or good
  • 96 percent say the same about the sense of neighborliness in Eagan
62 for Lindsey Vonn

With a powerful run through sunshine and fog, Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) etched her name into the ski racing history book, winning her 62nd career Audi FIS Ski World Cup at the Cortina downhill by .32 over Austria's Elisabeth Goergl. The win by Vonn matched the seemingly unbeatable record of 62 World Cup wins set by Austrian great Annemarie Moser-Proell that had stood for 35 years.
