What a great month we've had! Once the rain settled down the weather has been so pleasant! Summer is really in full swing. Now the rush is on for summer vacations and a trip to the state fair before an early Labor Day on Sept 1st!
Celebrating each season is always made more special in the home of your dreams. Our market remains steady and strong.
We expect home prices to increase in all states and the District of Columbia over the next 12 months, according to the June 2014 REALTORS Confidence Index. The median expected price increase is 3.6 percent. In other words, it's a good time to be confident in the real estate market.
It's great to find ourselves back in a "traditional" market and not be overshadowed by the homes that are bank owned and selling as short sales. It's been an interesting ride over the past 6-7 years.
Call me whenever the move bug hits. You can have confidence in my real estate expertise and guidance. Let me know how I can help.
I hope you take advantage and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Best Regards,Lori |

Slow job growth and student debt have made it harder for first-time home buyers Typically, first-time buyers account for roughly 40% of all home sales; today they account for 28%, according to Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors. The reason: Slow job growth is making it harder for young would-be buyers to find good paying jobs, student debt load can be stifling and it's harder for young buyers to meet today's underwriting standards required to get a mortgage, he said. Yun thinks it will be about three years before the share of first-time buyers returns to normal. But in some markets over others, the oldest millennials (those between the ages of 25 and 34) may have a better chance of becoming homeowners in the near future. Using data including the local population of people this age, job market conditions, housing affordability and inventory, NAR analyzed 100 metropolitan areas to find the best markets for those older millennials interested in becoming homeowners. -Amy Hoak

Simple Pleasures: 25 Ways to Make the Most of Your Staycation Taking time off from work to stay at home is a wonderful way to save cash while still getting the R&R of a vacation. At least it can be ... as long as you commit to enjoying yourself and don't just spend the time catching up on household chores. To make the most of your time off, it's important to do what you can to shut off the outside world and rid yourself of your usual routines. Choose one or more of these ideas to help you rock your staycation. 1. Savor the outdoors. Part of what is so delightful about being on vacation is being outdoors, so get out there. We may not have a water view, but we can bring our coffee outside in the morning, carry a glass of wine to the deck in the evening or simply sit with a book in the shade and feel the breeze. To boost ambience, set candles and a few bud vases of flowers on your table. If you want to go a step further, hang up outdoor curtains - they make any outdoor space feel special. Click Here For More
