Hello All!
Hope you're enjoying the hustle and bustle of Fall. It's my favorite time of year.Golfed one weekend and could have skied the next. Typical Minnesota!
Now we're into the Fall Festivals, trips to the pumpkin patch and apple orchards.Halloween is coming up soon. Have you picked out your costume yet?
Next it will be the 'here-before-you-know-it' holidays to prepare for. Let the
holiday stress begin!
The housing market has definitely gotten it's footing on stable ground. Nearly
every offer I've experienced in the past month or two has been in competition with at least one other.That's on both the listing and the sale side. It's an especially perfect time to buy with 30 year rates at 3.5%or under. And as a seller it's great to have prices holding steady or moving in an upward direction again.Great to see all signs of the "balanced" market we've been striving to move back toward.

Twin Cities home price recovery on firm footing

The Twin Cities posted the second-highest increase in home prices among 20 major U.S. cities in July, as the local housing market continues to strengthen.
The Standard & Poor's/Case Shiller index showed home prices in the metro area jumped 6 percent in July compared to a year ago, far outpacing the 20-city composite that showed a 1.2 percent gain. The Twin Cities trailed only Phoenix, which saw prices soar 16.6 percent for the month.
Among the metro areas S&P follows, the Twin Cities has been a standout for much of the year with six months of year-over-year gains. July's increase gives Realtors, buyers and sellers even greater confidence that the market is finally gaining stability after crashing five years ago.

Before the Snow Flies Checklist For Winterizing Your Home
Since winter is almost upon us, here are some easy tips that can help keep your energy bills lower during the cold winter months.
When we "winterize" our homes, we tend to focus on two priorities; We make changes to lower our energy costs, and 2) We do things to improve our comfort. There are many steps that we can take to help us save on our heating and electric bills. Here are a few options to consider this fall:
1) Furnace Inspection
Call an HVAC professional to inspect and clean your furnace. A furnace can lose some of its heating efficiency without a cleaning at least every other year. The technician should run a combustion analysis test to show you how well your furnace is running.
Stock up on furnace filters and change them monthly. A dirty filter will clog the air flow and make your furnace work harder which will cost you more money.

As I continue to read about the terrible tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, I can't help but think there's some lessons from my time as a Navy SEAL that I can pass on to the average citizen. So here goes...
Don't Make Yourself an Easy Target
When at sporting events, concerts, and the movies, choose seats that give you a tactical advantage always. What do I mean? Choose seats that allow good and east vantage points and a hasty exit point. Always stack the odds in your favor. It's the reason I still combat park (back in to a space) and sit with my back to the wall when I'm eating.
