Sixth Annual Cowboy Round-up
Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Load up your little cowboys and cowgirls and join us for a rendezvous with adventure at the sixth annual Cowboy Round-up on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Cowboys and chuck wagons will bring the cattle drive era to life for visitors of all ages. Special activities include rope making, Dutch oven cooking, side shows, and more! The Cowboy Round-up runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with activities throughout the Oklahoma History Center and outdoor areas. Youth are encouraged to dress the part as they make their way to the museum. Vernal Equinox Walks
Sunday and Monday, March 20 and 21 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center | Spiro, OK
Spiro Mounds Banner On March 20 and 21, Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center will host a series of guided Vernal Equinox Walks. Each day there will be three walks at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., led by archaeologist and manager Dennis Peterson. Each Vernal Equinox Walk will take approximately two hours and require one mile of easy walking. Attendees will learn about the importance of spring to American Indians. Peterson will tell about this unique, prehistoric American Indian mound site, the types of mounds, why they were created, and why some of the mounds are lined up for the sunsets of the solstices and equinoxes. He will discuss the history of the excavations, American Indian ceremonies and stories, tales of the unusual happenings associated with the mounds and answer your questions.

There is a small fee for this series of tours of $3 for adults and $2 for children, in addition to the daily admission fee. No reservations are required except for large groups. For more information please contact Dennis Peterson at spiro@okhistory.org or 918-962-2062.
Susan B. Anthony Living History
Thursday, March 24, public performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

To celebrate Women's History Month, the Oklahoma History Center will present a living history portrayal of social activist and education reformer, Susan B. Anthony. There will be three separate performances on Thursday, March 24, in the Chesapeake Events Center at the Oklahoma History Center. The first program will be at 11 a.m. for students, grades 9-12. Performances open to the general public will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited so an early arrival is recommended.
 
Marjorie Goldman, of Philadelphia, Pa., will present a dramatic living history portrayal of Susan B. Anthony, a prominent women's rights activist and suffragist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Goldman is a free-lance theater artist and part-time library assistant. She has a master's degree in American Studies, has taught U.S. history at the high school and college levels and is also a certified docent at the National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House in Rochester, N.Y. Goldman feels very fortunate to be able to combine both her academic and performing interests in her work bringing historical figures to life.
